Boots Star Gift of the Week - Sanctuary Top to Toe Tin!

Wow, where has the year gone? I've only just realised that due to it not even occurring to me what time of year it actually is, that I've totally been missing the Boots Star Gift of the Week promotions that I'd usually tell you all about.

Anyway, this is just a quick post to let you know that this week there's a lovely looking Sanctuary 'Top to Toe Tin' gift set available for £19, less than 50% (just) of it's normal £40 price tag. They have a cool little video showing you the products on the site, but I'm embedding it here so you can watch it here.

Contains:
  •     Body Wash (250ml)
  •     Body Lotion (250ml)
  •     Spa Skin Body Polisher
  •     Radiance Exfoliator (100ml)

  •     Spa Facial Headband
  •     Pumice Foot Scrub (50ml)
  •     Moisture Rich Foot Butter (50ml)

QVC Today's Special Value - Fab Philosophy Amazing/Pure Grace Fragrance Sets!

You may remember that I reviewed the Philosophy amazing Grace Body lotion last year, and if so, you may also remember that I absolutely LOVED it!! Well, I've just noticed a Philosophy Today's Special Value on QVC, right now; and, never the one to let a bargain I see go unreported, I thought it was only fair that I shared it with you!

The set looks fantastic, but it's also great value at £39.96 (plus £5.95 postage), especially considering the retail prices of each product, just take a look:

Spray Fragrance included is usually around £32, then there's the Bath, Shampoo and Shower Gel that retails around £19, Body Butter £30, Hand Cream £14, and the Purse Spray Fragrance for which I can't find a proper price for, but judging on it being 25% of the volume of the spray, I'm going to say £8. So a whopping £103 worth of product, for £45.91, which is amazing (grace)!

Not only do you have the actual value of the set, it's made even more affordable by being available on 2 easy payments, which means you can spread the payment over this month (initial payment plus postage taken straight away - £25.93) and pay off the rest (£19.98) next month, with no credit, no interest and no hassle. I love when things are made available on Easy Pay!

I might have to treat myself to the Amazing Grace set, although I'm tempted by both, but have never smelled Pure Grace and my bank balance is already under pressure with my recent spending. :-( x

"Contains:

  • 1 x Perfumed Bath, Shampoo and Shower Gel (480ml) - this award-winning, multi-tasking formula gently cleanses and conditions your hair and body leaving them feeling silky soft and beautifully cleansed
  • 1 x Perfumed Body Butter (150ml) - this luxurious formula melts onto skin to help moisturise and soften the skin and leave it feeling super soft and smooth. Enriched with shea, mango and cocoa butters
  • 1 x Perfumed Hand Cream (120ml) – this ultra-rich hand cream is formulated with an amazingly clean, beautifully feminine scent and melts into the skin leaving no sticky residue. Enriched with shea, mango and cocoa butters
  • 1 x Spray Fragrance (60ml) - this eau de toilette formula is light, delicate and fresh, ideal for everyday use
  • 1 x Purse Spray Fragrance (15ml) - this handy purse-sized spray perfume is perfect for reapplying your favourite scent on the go
  • 1 x gift box

Fragrance options:

  • Pure Grace is a light veil of fresh, soap and water notes with a crisp finish. It’s the perfect fragrance if you long to feel fresh, clean and refreshed
  • Amazing Grace is an irresistible blend of clean, complex florals. It is soft and feminine, the perfect fragrance if you long to feel pretty, feminine, lady-like, classic and beautiful"

Take me to the booty!

Bargain: Elemis Pro-Collagen Body Trio For Just £8.99 (RRP £30, Worth £67)!

I make no excuses about being a fan of Elemis products, and I certainly make no excuses about being partial to a bargain or 2, although I still make my bank balance weep as my theory is that if it costs half the price, you can buy twice as many... or something else completely with the money saved. Are you the same?

Anyway, I've just found this fabulous Elemis Pro-Collagen Body Trio offer online and thought I'd share it with you lovely people as it is a total bargain. It's a perfect Christmas present (if like me, you're trying to be organised) or even just a guilt free treat for yourself. The set contains:

"Elemis Pro-Collagen Radiantly Smooth Body Cream 50ml x 2
Designed with unique Micro-Lattice Technology to help restore cell cohesion and reduce skin crepiness, this anti-ageing body cream deeply hydrates and visibly smoothes and tones to give skin improved firmness and an illuminating youthful radiance.

Elemis Pro-Collagen Body Serum 50ml x 1
Containing Elemis’ new Micro-Lattice Technology developed specifically for the body, this instantly absorbed, concentrated gel-serum provides an instant feeling of skin firmness and lift - creating an invisible ‘body-stocking’ effect. The perfect solution for slackening skin on the buttocks, abdomen and arms."

This massive saving is a huge incentive for you to try out these products, or at least it was for me, haha. Anyway, if you fancy getting some then it's available from Time To Spa and then using code PCBODYTRIO at checkout.

The only downside is that you can only purchase one per person, I'd love it in the truckload, to be honest. ;-)

Take me to the booty!

Sure Maximum Protection - My Verdict!

On Monday I posted about the new Maximum Protection range from Sure and today I am back to let you know my thoughts on the deodorants that I was sent to try out. The aim was to try these out when I knew that I would be out of my comfort zone, as that's when my body would be more likely to perspire - which is much nicer than saying sweat, don't you think?!

My trial began on Saturday when I travelled down to London, I was loaded up with luggage (I never can seem to travel light) and had to navigate the tube with said bags as a result - and if you've ever been on the tube, you'll know how warm it can get down there. I did get warm, but not once did I feel like I was in danger of getting wet patches (eww) because of the heat.

Once I had dumped my bags at the hotel, I proceeded to the shops where I tried on plenty of clothes in a bid to find a new outfit for the next day - this is something that always gets me hot and bothered, but things were surprisingly pleasant in that department too, I'm pleased to say.
The only photograph I took at the SFTW studio, sorry for phone camera quality!

The next day is where I was completely out of my comfort zone, as I was visiting a TV studio to watch the last ever Something for the Weekend show, live. I knew that I would be nervous as I've never done anything like this before, I also knew that the studio lights would add to any heat that I was already generating myself. This is where the real test came into force as if the deodorant failed me at this point, I would quite possibly die there and then, on the spot; I mean, how embarrassing would that be!!

Luckily, it passed with flying colours. I felt confident, fragrant and most importantly, dry throughout the day - which actually turned into an afternoon, then evening of drinking before travelling back to Manchester, bags in tow. I arrived home feeling as fresh as I had when I left the hotel room that morning, and the fact that not once did I feel the need to check to make sure I didn't smell throughout the day, spoke volumes!
The deodorant has a creamy consistency that is smoothed into the skin.

Just to prove to myself that this product WAS the reason for my underarm 'drought', I made sure that I continued to use Sure Maximum Protection before I went to have my hair coloured this week. I'm quite used to having this done, however I do always get very hot as they wrap you up in many layers to protect you from colour spillage. This, combined with the heat lamps that they put you under, the heat of the salon and also the heat of the sun blazing in through the window would usually be enough to send me into meltdown, literally, but this was not the case that day and I put that down to using Maximum Protection!

So, all in all it has been a very successful trial - and a surprising one, as to be honest, I wondered how something like this could help in such a significant way. I mean I am not an overly sweaty (errgh, I really hate that word) person, but I'm certain that these situations would have created some perspiration, and to feel so fresh, dry and confident was a real revelation to me.

There are 2 varieties available currently, Senstive (purple packaging) and Confident (pink packaging) and I think they both smell absolutely lovely, and both have the same degree of effectiveness against odour and wetness.

Sure Maximum Protection is available from all leading retailers priced at around £5.30 for 45ml of product which isn't too bad as you only use a small amount per underarm (2 clicks each), and is a very small price to pay for the confidence that I gained from using it.

Sponsored post - my views remain 100% truthful and unchanged by this.

Sure Maximum Protection!

Deodorant may not be the most glamorous of beauty items, and is probably something that you don't think too much about. However, having a good deodorant is essential for feeling confident, because let's face it, nobody wants to get hot and smell/feel like they smell like the bottom of a teenage boy's laundry basket; let alone have wet patches on show for all to see.

Sure claim to have the perfect solution to these issues, in the form of their 'Maximum Protection' deodorant, a creamy deodorant stick that offers around the clock protection from wetness and odour. Sure Maximum Protection is formulated with 'TRIsolid innovative body responsive technology' which has 3 important components, including:

  • The maximum wetness protection ever from Sure
  • Encapsulated odour-fighting technology, and
  • Skin moisturising ingredients.
This protection is said to last throughout the following day, even after a shower which all sounds good to me on paper, so I've been putting it to the test to see how these claims stand up in real life when I'm in situations that are outside my normal comfort zone - so, make sure you come back on Friday to see what I've put it through, and how well it worked.

Sure Maximum Protection is available from all major retailers for around £5.30 (45ml) although prices may differ between them.

    Good Things Ultra Rich Range!

I had a lovely little surprise the other day when a large box arrived from Wizard PR, containing products from the new ‘Ultra Rich’ from Good Things, a company that I’d heard of, but never used. Now, after having a bit of time to try the products out, I have to say that I am actually very, very impressed with them.

The first thing that hit me was the scent of the products, beautifully fruity sweet scents, with just a little bit of a tang to stop them being sickly (although I don’t mind sickly in the right products, it has to be said), they actually smell a bit sherbet-y to me - literally smelling good enough to eat. Actually, they all have slightly different scents, but not wildly so, so can be used together with absolutely no clashing of fragrance.

The other thing I noticed was on the press release and that was the price of each product... they’re VERY affordable, which I have to say isn’t always a deciding factor for me with any given product (as I don’t mind paying more for a product that performs well, and I’m not a fan of buying cheap, just for the sake of doing so either... for me, a product has to perform well at whatever price point it is at), but is still great to see – especially for a brand that appears to be quite ethical. I received:

Ultra Rich Creamy Scrub, £4.99 for 200ml with Superfruit Extracts of Pomegranate and Red Grape – When I first squeezed this out of the tube onto my skin, I thought it was going to be one of those scrubs that only had a few ‘beads’ to exfoliate in that didn’t actually exfoliate at all, since it was quite a smooth consistency at first feel, with just a few seedy bits showing up. I was wrong, I massaged it into my skin and all the tiny ‘micro beads’ started to become apparent and they did a GREAT job of exfoliating my skin without it feeling harsh or leaving my skin sore. My tip I would give for using this would be to use it on dry skin before your shower, for even more exfoliation!

Ultra Rich Body Lotion, £4.99 for 250ml with Superfruit Extracts of Cranberry and Avocado – This is a very light lotion, suitable for pretty much all skins as although it is a very light formula, I do still find it very hydrating; it sinks into the skin quickly and leaves it feeling soft and supple.

Ultra Rich Body Butter, £6.49 for 300ml with Suprtfruit Extracts of Papaya and Mango – This is a very thick and rich body butter that is extremely hydrating, but isn’t overly heavy on the skin and doesn’t take forever to sink in either. It feels like a very luxurious product to use, and whilst it would be very suitable for all skin types, I do feel that dry skin would benefit even more from this. It leaves my skin velvety soft and super smooth – lush!

Obviously if you’re not a fan of sweet or fruity scents, then these products may not be for you – although if you can look past this, they’re totally worth using as they perform really well too and are at a price that won’t break the bank.

All in all, I am very impressed and would repurchase these products in a heartbeat!!

Lush Limited Edition Creamy Candy Body Lotion!

Today I treated myself to 2 pots of Lush’s very limited edition ‘Creamy Candy’ body lotions and I have to say I am very pleased with them. Not only do they smell delightful but they are actually good moisturisers too – which isn’t always the case with heavily fragranced lotions.

The scent in the pot and when first applied is just like the Lush Creamy Candy bubble bar that it is based on. This may seem weird to mention as this is what you’d fully expect as standard but fragrance oils (especially the more natural ones) can change scent depending on what kind of product you put them into; for instance a bubble bar and a body lotion are 2 different chemical compositions so the fragrance, although the exact same fragrance can end up smelling totally different from product to product and this is why I thought it would be a good idea for me to mention this.

Application is easy and although the product has a pink hue to it, it does not make your skin pink in the process, thankfully. It’s also very quick to soak into my skin and did not make it feel tacky either, which I was very pleased to find out as although I like a good lounge around every now and then, I don’t like it forced upon me just because my moisturiser refuses to soak in so I was pleased to find that this lotion didn’t take half the day to do so.

The scent is quite strong and lasted for a good few hours on my skin, which I find to be fairly acceptable as I’ve not found that many lotions that smell strongly for the whole day, unfortunately. It didn't disappear completely, I should add.

After a while when the scent does mellow on the skin it still smells a lot like Creamy Candy as it did on application, but I do also detect a subtle hint of the Comforter lotion (based on the pink and white comforter bubble bar) which is still very lovely, sweet and slightly fruity. You may find this different on your own skin as scents are very personal things and are subject to change from person to person.

This is available at Lush stores throughout September (or until they run out, which I think is very likely so if you do want to purchase this then I would advise you to call your local store to make sure they have it in stock as it really is VERY limited edition) and is priced at £12 for a 225g pot.

As you can see from the picture below, this is suitable for vegans, but not for people who are allergic to parabens.
