Essie Mirror Metallics Collection!

I saw this on the Essie Facebook page and thought that you guys would be as interested in this as I am. I love metallics, even though they require a bit more prep work to avoid any ridges or bumps in the nail from showing - a good base coat usually sorts that out.

The colours aren't necessarily groundbreaking in the metallics field, but I find Essie nail polish to have a great formula, application, and staying power so I'm looking forward to seeing these in the flesh!

Are any catching your eye? I think I need them all in my life.

I have no idea if they're out soon, or not but I'll be sure to update if/when I find out.

Essie Summer 2011 (Part 2) - Resort!

Another Essie collection for summer 2011 is the 'Resort' collection, a seemingly safari-themed set that comprises of 4 shades:

"Lion Around: peachy shade
Da Bush: khaki green shade
Your Hut or Mine: sparkling golden poppy pink
Fair Game: Blue metallic Tahitian pearl sheen of platinum"

My favourites from the promotional photographs are Fair Game and Your Hut Or Mine, but that could all change when I see the shades 'in real life' so to speak as I do actually think they all look like colours I'd wear!

Fancy any of these?

Essie Summer 2011 (Part 1) - Braziliant!

Essie's scorching summer 2011 collection, the Braziliant collection looks absolutely beautiful, I wholeheartedly concur with the ‘brilliant’ reference as I am coveting at least 4, probably 5 of the collection already!
Colours that stand out to me (ie the ones I *really* want) are Super Bossa Nova, Braziliant, Too Too Hot, Meet Me At The Sunset and possibly Smooth Sailing too! The only one that didn’t really grab me is Absolutely Shore... just because I have enough pastel-y green shades currently (I probably have enough of most shades but that’s beside the point)!

What do you think, are there any colours that you must have in your life?

Essie Spring 2011 'A French Affair'

Essie’s spring collection looks to be a lovely mix of pastels, and nudey neutrals - with an equally lovely looking blue thrown in for good measure.

It’s actually the blue that stands out most to me, quite possibly as it looks darker than the rest of the collection but oddly doesn’t look too out of place for it, maybe as it reminds me of the beautiful blue sea of the Côte d'Azur so fits in with the theme, still.

Other stand out colours for me are Sand Tropez and Topless & Barefoot, although I actually found it quite difficult to make a decision on that as I think all the colours look like colours that I would wear with no problem!

Are there any stand out colours for you?

French Affair - A beautiful soft pink.

Nice is Nice - A stunning soft lavender.

Coat Azure - A lovely sea blue shade.

Sand Tropez - A fabulous taupe.

Topless & Barefoot - A perfect pink-nude.

Kisses & Bisses - A pearly ivory (which looks slightly iredescent).

The set will be available at Essie stockist, BeautyBay (www.beautybay.com) very soon; I'll be checking to find out when it comes in and will update the post when I find out!

Essie Winter 2010 Collection - A Few Swatches!

So I got my Essie Winter collection order from the USA, but they only sent 3 of the collection and I’m having difficulties in trying to sort out the others, so I thought I’d go ahead and swatch what I had, since I don’t actually know of or when this issue will be sorted.

Without Flash (Daylight):

L-R - Going Incognito, Hot Coco & Smokin' Hot!

Luckily for me, the colours I had really wanted were included in the package; so here are the Swatches!

Without Flash (under day lamp):

They’re not the best pictures I’ve taken but the lighting at the moment is awful due to the dull weather so I’ve done the best I can so that you can see the colours!

With Flash (in daylight):

With Flash (day lamp):

As always these Essie polishes apply beautifully and are fabulously glossy - in fact my pictures and nail wheel do not do them justice!

More Essie Fabulousness - Winter 2010!

I ordered the Essie Winter 2010 collection today, well it would be rude to ignore their festive offering, surely? Whilst I wait for it to arrive so that I can swatch it, I thought I’d give you a glimpse of the colours we're being offered.

Once I’ve received the order from America I’ll do the swatching for you, although I still don’t understand why we have to pay so much more for things in this country; so much so that it still works out cheaper to have them sent from so far away.

My first thoughts are that it certainly looks very festive, markedly so because of the green (Going Incognito) and red (Silken Cord) shades that jumped right out at me in the line up. I love the look of Smokin’ Hot and Hot Coco too, in fact I love the look of all of it to be honest. I will say though that Masquerade Belle reminds me of Velvet Voyeur from their autumn collection, quite a lot actually – maybe just a little bit darker. What do you think?

Essie Autumn 2010 Collection - Swatches! Better Late Than Never!

I just realised that I have yet to put up swatches of the Essie 2010 Fall Collection so here they are, all are taken without flash (except the last one, labelled 'with flash') in various lights of day and against 2 different backgrounds. I apologise, the pictures aren't great as I'm still using the camera on my mobile phone, but it gives a fair idea of how these go on.

Essie Autumn 2010 Collection Has Landed Here!

My Essie Autumn 2010 polishes have arrived and I have got to say, they are every bit as gorgeous as I thought (and hoped) they would be. However, I appear to have misplaced my nail polish remover so cannot take any photo’s right now, but I will be putting pictures up soon so be sure to check back.

They are currently on sale at Asos, priced £9.50 each (Merino Cool doesn't appear there currently) or you can do what I did and go on eBay and buy them from America as they work out cheaper. ;-)

The Beautiful Essie Autumn 2010 Collection!

Essie Autumn 2010 Collection

I love the long days that summer brings, even though the ‘summer’ we’ve had is nothing to be proud of;  and thus I’m dreading the shorter days and longer nights that are coming imminently as we hurtle towards autumn and winter.

One thing that has brightened my day and given me something to look forward to in autumn is the Essie 2010 autumn nail polish collection. The collection contains a beautiful selection of hues, perfect for the impending colder weather and darker nights.

“This season’s runways showcased a mix of traditional glamour, chic urban warriors and eclectic colour combinations that has us revved up for fall! The feeling is dark, sexy and minimalist, dominated by a posh palette of decadent, velvet textures and reflective, metallic embellishments.

This fall, designers are mixing it up, combining sheer fabric with leather along with lingerie as outer wear in deep, muted tones and bold colours palettes which is very alluring; explains Essie Weingarten, Founder/President of Essie.I drew inspiration from the range of elegant, sanguine hues and camouflage tones.

Essies new fall 2010 collection embodies the essence of these eclectic fashions with autumnal pops of colour in 6 stunning new shades that are perfect match to falls exquisitely refined accessories and finely tailored ensembles.”

Spectrum of Colours:

  • In Stitches - Cheeky blush pink
  • Limited Addiction - Racy garnet red
  • Sew Psyched - Cashmere soft sage pewter
  • Merino Cool - Sensuous autumn mulberry
  • Velvet Voyeur - Intense chocolate amethyst
  • Little Brown Dress - Beguiling black coffee

These must have polishes are due for release on September 1st in the US - I’m hoping this is the same for the UK as I am SO excited to get my hands on all of them.
