Swatched: Models Own Black Swirl (Chanel Black Pearl Dupe?)!

This is another of the Models own spring/summer collection, Black Swirl... I think that this is (quite obviously) another cheeky name twist on yet another Chanel nail polish (Black Pearl) and some have described it as a dupe for it; however all the swatches I’ve seen of Black Pearl seem to show it having a tinge of teal/green whereas Black Swirl does not... so no, it's not really a dupe but still a lovely colour in its own right.

The swatches mostly show 4 coats, apart from the first (above) which shows 3 and seems to have a lot more brush strokes, hence why I added another which seems to have helped; I thought it should still be shown though.

The polish is actually a lot sheerer than I thought it would be, and I think even without the brush strokes I would have gone for the 4 coats, possibly even 5... but this dried fairly quickly so it didn’t really add much time onto the application.

I really quite like the colour, it’s quite dark and glossy at a glance but when you look closer you get to see the light reflecting off it to show more of a darn gun metal grey rather than a black.

What do you think? Do you like it?

Models Own Pink Fever (Spring/Summer 2011) Swatches!

This polish is one of the Models Own shades for Spring/Summer and I’m yet again really very impressed with it overall. I hope you like the swatches, please excuse the application etc!

I’ve been wearing this polish for a few days now and there’s no chipping or signs of wear – this is fabulous for any polish in my book, but even more so because this polish only costs £5 (or less if you take up the multi purchase offer on the Models Own website where you get money off if you buy more than 3 polishes).

 Daylamp (No Flash):
  Daylight:

It also applies very well and dries in a reasonable time, which is very important to me as I’m quite rubbish at waiting for my nails to try – patience is not my forte.

Daylamp (No Flash) - I showed this because it shows a lot more of the purple tones:

 Daylight:

I love the colour, it really is stunning; in some lights it looks a very vibrant pink/fuchsia but in others you see the violet/lilac that runs through it which in turn keeps me from getting bored with it.

Like it?

Models Own Spring/Summer 2011 Nail Colours!

L-R - Concrete Mixer, Orange Sherbet, Bloo Boo, Black Swirl, Pink Fever

This is just a quick post for today as it’s my mum’s birthday, so I’ll be spending the day with her but I just wanted to give you a quick look at the new Models Own Spring/Summer 2011 nail colours. This collection is very diverse, I’m sure there’s something to suit most people in there with a nude, a greige, a pastel, a pink, what looks to be quite a neon orange (shimmer?) and even a very dark metallic grey! I've had to put the Nyla Nude and Utopia (shown L-R) pictures below as the images I've got are not as hi-res as the others and looked odd when I merged them; you get the idea nonetheless though.
I’ll be swatching a few of them for you in the next week as I’ve just received them in the post. The colours I have are the ones that stood out to me most from the collection (apart from the Orange Sherbet), and those are: Pink Fever (love the look of this already), Black Swirl and Concrete Mixer so I’ll get them up for you asap! What do you think about them so far?

These will be available for £5 each (as you’d expect with Models Own) from the usual outlets... although Nyla Nude will only be available at River Island, and Orange Sherbet only available online.
