Happy Valentine's Day!

Did you get lots of cards? I don't think we're doing anything for it, as I've started coughing (blerrgh) we may get a take out from the Chinese restaurant that we may otherwise have gone to. Do you have plans?

Nails Inc '7 Piece Ahead of the Trend' Collection TSV @ QVC - RIGHT NOW!!

This looks like a pretty good deal to me, you're getting 7 full sized polishes for £23.38 plus £3.95 postage which equates to £3.90 per polish, less than a 17 polish, if my memory serves me correctly - bargain. The set contains the following colours:

1 x Baker Street (10ml) - cobalt blue
1 x Belgrave Mews (10ml) - forest green
1 x Cadogan Place (10ml) - muted mushroom
1 x Mayfair Mews (10ml) - coral
1 x Piccadilly Arcade (10ml) - pink
1 x Royal Mews (10ml) - holographic silver
1 x Wilton Row (10ml) - maroon/plum

I am loving the look of the holographic silver, and all in all it looks like a really nice collection - perfect for if you have any birthdays coming up, or if you just want to treat yourself. I'm very tempted, although the £180 vet bill last night for Chloe's asthma, and my effort to enforce a short spending ban because of said bill is getting right in the way of me hitting the 'submit order' button. Crap!

I'm on Pinterest!

Just a quick note to let you know that you can now follow me on Pinterest where I have been spending a fair amount of time (inbetween spring cleaning, boiler and cat dramas) looking at, and adding lots of pretty pictures and getting inspiration for all kinds of things, including my wedding. I've added a new button to the sidebar for ease. Let me know if you're on there, would love to have a nosey at your pins/boards.

Celeb Sunday - Fearne Cotton!

I've had a bit of a girl crush on Fearne Cotton for quite some time now, basically ever since she chopped her hair off. Her hair as it was previously, was nice but nothing special, but now she's rocking her hair so hard, with every style she chooses. I feel like she's found her style and is sticking with it (or should do), she knows what works for her and she is bang on the money with it, every time. I have hair envy, big time.

The photograph above shows her with a sleek, low ponytail - it's simple but it works so well, and has gone for a classic black liner and red lip make-up look that complements it perfectly. Her skin looks totally flawless too, so jealous about that one!! Chic, non?!

Here's a few more pics of Fearne looking amazing (whether she's completely made up, or more natural). Just because.

Miners 'The Cheek of it' Face Sticks!

These new Face Sticks from Miners are a snip at just £3.99 each, and they actually perform surprisingly well. Because they're in stick form, they're easy to handle when using, although I still find it a bit more precise to use my fingers to apply and then blend, since you'd need to use them to blend it out after using the stick anyway.
There are 3 sticks in the range, a pink blush stick, a bronze stick and a highlighter stick - so that's the basics covered. It would be nice to see more shades in the range; especially blush shades, since pink tones don't suit all skintones - especially if you already have pink-toned skin. I'm hoping that they will add on more to the range in the near future. I love the highlighter stick, it's got a golden sheen to it that will look amazing with a tan - can't wait to use this one when (if?) summer comes.
Highlighter - Not Blended!
Highlighter - Blended.
When you first apply them using the stick, they look pretty scary - as you can see in my pre-blended photographs, especially the bronzer (I apologise, they're not up to my usual standards as I've had a hell of a week, consisting of vet visits with Chloe, a broken boiler (&the tidy up that followed) and my mums birthday, which means I've had to rush these pictures through just to get this post up) but once you blend them out, they're much more subtle.
Top Blusher, Bottom Bronzer  - Unblended!
Top Blusher, Bottom Bronzer - Blended!
I like the finish of the sticks on the skin, because they're of a cream consistency they don't look cakey which is great for all skin types, especially dry skin as they're not prone to being cakey - although you should be aware not to use them over powder products as the overall effect may not be so great (you can use a powder to set them after, though). Pigmentation wise, they're fine, not overly pigmented and certainly not compared to the likes of Illamasqua/NARS etc (the swatches show a good few 'swipes'), but they seem to last fairly well on the skin, especially the pink blush stick.

Unfortunately for me, they smell of rose, or at least they do to my nose - I can handle it though as they're not being used right near my nose, and the scent isn't overpowering so this isn't a deal breaker.

Quite a bargain, I'd say and my favourite out of the bunch is the highlighting stick!

Available from the Miners website!

PR Samples - My views are unchanged by this.

Feel Unique Beauty Box Is No More!

I think this is a bit of a shame, as most people always seemed happy with the Feel Unique Beauty Box. I don't know the reason(s) why it's being discontinued but it sounds like there'll be something to fill the gap in the not too distant future.

As a valued customer, I wanted to be the first to let you know that we’ve taken the decision to close our Beauty Box service.

At feelunique.com we pride ourselves on delivering exceptionally high standards of value, service and quality and we're constantly reviewing the way we do things.

Each month we've been listening and taking onboard all of your comments and ideas. We understand that like us, you love beauty and trying new things and it's with this in mind that we believe there's a better way of delivering a bespoke, high quality sampling service based on your individual needs. For this reason, we will be closing Beauty Box indefinitely as of this month.

We realise this may come as a surprise and not without disappointment, but we would like to reassure you that we're working hard on perfecting our new and improved service which we are planning on launching in the coming months.

If you are a Monthly Subscriber, your monthly subscription payment has now been terminated and no more payments will be taken.

If you are an Annual Subscriber, a refund will be issued for the remaining months from March onwards. You will also receive a written confirmation of this in the post for your records.

On behalf of feelunique.com I would like to thank you for your loyal custom and support and hope to see you again soon.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact our Beauty Box Care Team: Tel +44 (0) 845 643 0119, Email beautybox@feelunique.com

Here's to the next big adventure, watch this space…

Kind Regards,

What do you think? Good, bad or indifferent? Personally, I'll kind of miss it, but I guess it saves me a bit of money in the long run.
