Competition: WIN a Fearne Cotton 'From Dusk 'Til Dawn Eyes' Set.

No Flash.
Flash.
I've been ill this week with flu like symptoms, and have also had internet issues, so haven't been able to post anything up for you to read. So, to make it up to you, and as a quick post that I can get live before my net drops again, I thought it would be nice to run another little competition.

This time the prize is a 'From Dusk Til Dawn Eyes' eyeshadow set from the Fearne Cotton makeup range. The set consists of 3 lovely shades, that appear to be shimmery in finish - I've photographed very quickly, both with flash and without. I thought this would be a nice thing to give away since it's getting close to Christmas and this would either make a lovely gift, or be a lovely set to use over the festive period, with the shimmer finish.

All you have to do to enter is fill in, and do at least one activity from the competition form below AND be a follower of the blog via GFC or Bloglovin, simple eh.

Competition ends on Wednesday 4th December at midnight (so that's basically late Tuesday night, just for clarification). I've extended it as I've had a few people email me telling me they're having problems with the widget and entering.

Viviscal & Look Good Feel Better Charity Project: Your Hair Confessions!

I am a sucker for a good cause. I like to be able to help anybody, whenever/wherever I can and always donate what time/money I can to various charities too.

So, when I got an email through this morning, telling me about Viviscal and their campaign to both uncover the true meaning of a 'Good Hair Day' and raise money for Look Good Feel Better by donating £1 every time somebody in the UK fills in the survey on their Hair Confessions site, I immediately set to work in writing this post in the hope that I too could help to raise awareness, and also encourage every one of my readers in the UK to fill in the survey.

Look Good Feel Better is a charity that is 'dedicated to improving the self-esteem and quality of life of people undergoing treatment for cancer', something that I think is just as important as the cancer treatment itself.

How you look affects how you feel, and I'm betting every one of you knows what it's like to have a bad hair/makeup/skin or whatever day; you know, one where you go out just not feeling yourself, feeling self conscious and generally rubbish because your hair wouldn't curl properly or your foundation looks a bit cakey etc. So, if I was going through treatment for cancer, and had lost my hair in the process, or had to have my breast(s) removed, I'd imagine that I'd feel pretty low, on top of already feeling poorly and having my body battered by the various treatments available... and that just can't help matters at all.

So I'm asking you all, if you live in the UK, please please go over to the 'Viviscal Hair Confessions' site and fill in the survey. Also, please do share this post to all your friends and followers too as the more people that fill in the survey, the more money LGFB will receive, and the more people they'll be able to help. It only takes a little bit of your time, and you will be entered into a prize draw to win 3 month supply of Viviscal hair supplements, and a grand prize of a trip to LA on Oscar weekend 2014 - although I'd personally fill it in without the prize incentive.

If you're not in the UK, please feel free to forward this post to anybody who is. x

Players simply need to search through our brand and product pages to find the special prizes which can be identified by one of the pictures above. When the gift is found players must follow the normal ordering process and purchase the prize for just 1p (P&P is included) as quickly as possible before someone else gets it! Be warned- just because it is in your basket does not mean you have won the prize, it’s the person who processes the order first who will win!

HOUSE RULES
Players are only allowed to redeem one 1p gift per order- players trying to process orders with more than one ‘1p gift’ will be eliminated. This competition will expire once all of the gifts have been found.

So, this one requires a little more effort, but it should get you into the festive spirit at the same time. I'll definitely be giving it a go!

Good luck!

The Christmas Countdown Begins...

I can't believe it, it's actually December already(!), and that to me means that panic can now set in as Christmas is officially here (almost) and I need to get my skates on and get my gifts for people chosen, bought and then wrapped... the countdown is ON!

I'm sure many of you are also in the same predickydoodah* as me, especially if you also don't have a clue what to buy for your nearest and dearest. So with that in mind, I'll be doing a series of posts to try to help you pick some fabulous gifts for the special people in your life.

Another part of Christmas that I look forward to is partying and with that thought in mind, I'll also be showing you my favourite party season make-up, accessories and skincare to help get you through the festive season in style.

Finally, I'll also be throwing a couple of competitions into the mix, so don't forget to come back and check the site for those too!

*Mr Beauty Scoop insisted that I wrote this, instead of the more widely used word 'predicament' that I originally had typed out!

Fancy Starring Alongside Cheryl Cole In The Next Casting Créme Gloss TV Advertisement?

Red hair is everywhere these days, and if you cast your minds back, it was Cheryl Cole who kind of started the big red hair revival that is still so popular, even though she herself ditched the colour months ago!

I am absolutely loving having red hair right now, although admittedly my personal decision to go red was less to with Cheryl Cole and more to do with the fact that I had 'done' blonde and brown in succession previously. Red was just the natural choice for my next colour to stop me being bored of the colour I had, and I am not tiring of this colour at all, 12 months on - which is very strange for me!

Anyway, I digress!

Have you ever fancied the chance to get yourself on TV (without having to spend weeks of your life in a house aqlongside people you hate)? Well, L'Oreal are currently on the hunt for 3 girls to star in the next Casting Créme Gloss TV advert, alongside their spokesmodel, Cheryl Cole. They're looking for a blonde, a brunette and a redhead, so if you think that you fit the bill, read on...

"From 31 October to 27th November, fans of Casting Créme Gloss and Cheryl Cole will be able to enter a picture of themselves in either ‘tempting blonde’, ‘rich brunette’ or ‘fiery redhead’.

To enter visit www.facebook.com/LOrealParisUK and click on the application button which appears on the left hand side of the page, follow the steps to enter and upload a picture of yourself then ask friends and family to cast their vote from the 28th November to 4th December 2011.

The most popular blondes, brunettes and red heads will be shortlisted for a L’Oréal Paris Casting Day where you will receive a makeover by our hair & makeup artists in preparation for a live audition, in front of a panel of judges. This will be your chance to go in front of the camera and tell us why you love Casting Crème Gloss. And yes, you can even utter those famous words, "Because you're worth it!'

The winners will then be chosen to appear in an exclusive new L’Oréal Paris Casting Crème Gloss TV advertisement campaign for 2012, alongside Cheryl. Who knows, you could be the next colour crush!

* Competition open to all UK and ROI residents aged 16 and over. Entrants must register with L’Oréal Insider. No purchase necessary. Entrants must colour their hair using Casting Crème Gloss and upload on Facebook. Closing date 27/11/2011. For full Terms & Conditions and to enter visitFacebook.com/LOrealParisUK."

Sigma Makeup Brushes - Travel Kit (Black) - A Review!

I was sent a set of Sigma brushes to try out as part of my affiliation with Sigma Make-Up and really wanted to tell you all what I thought of them. I had wanted to try Sigma’s brushes for quite a while but had never got around to making a final choice on which ones to try first so being able to try this Sigma Travel Kit out has really helped me on my way!

The reason I say it helped me on my way is because after trying these brushes, I know that I will definitely be purchasing many more of them very soon, as I have been SO impressed by the quality – in fact, I already have a list of what I want to buy in my next order!

All the brushes in the set are soft, but not too soft and have plenty of bristles which are great for picking up the right amount of product for each area! There are 8 brushes included in the set, and at $49 (plus shipping) I think it represents great value. The brushes available in the kit are:
E30 – Pencil Brush: I use this mainly for applying eyeshadow in the crease of my eye, before blending but it’s also good for any other smaller areas too – like the inner corner. I find that it picks up just the right amount of product and applies it effortlessly.
E40 – Tapered Blending Brush: As the name says, I use this for blending. It’s a bit bigger than I am used to, however it still does a great job for me. If you find it is a bit too big for your eye, you could also use it for buffing in concealer, especially to the under-eye area.
E55 – Eye Shading Brush: This is a fantastic brush for packing on the product, and I tend to use this on my lids more than anywhere else. The bristles are dense enough to hold plenty of shadow, but soft enough to not feel hard or restrictive when applying it.
F30 – Large Powder Brush: I quite like to apply my bronzer with this as it’s so soft, which means I don’t get any harsh lines after applying, which can sometimes be the case with harder brushes. It’s a little bit too soft for me to apply mineral make-up that requires buffing, but I’d generally use my Bare Escentuals brushes for that anyway, so it’s of no detriment to the brush for me, but I thought it worth mentioning to you!
F40 – Large Angled Contour Brush: This is a fabulous contouring brush, it’s precise but not too hard (again, no harsh lines when contouring with this gem)... it’s also good for applying regular blusher, if you’re not into contouring.
F50 – Duo Fibre Brush: I had never used one of these brushes before, but had always been curious about if they really did do anything that a regular foundation brush couldn’t and do you know what? I really do think it gives a lovely finish on the skin, something that *could* probably be achieved with a good foundation brush and a bit of extra effort, but this just makes it easy and I like that!
F60 – Foundation Brush: I’ve used (and still use) many different foundation brushes and this will definitely be added into the rotation as it applied my foundation smoothly, with no brush marks dragging all over my face and without sucking up all the product into the bristles too!! A quick tip if you do have a foundation brush that does this is to apply a tiny amount of moisturiser into the bristles before using (after washing) as this makes a barrier of sorts which allows the foundation to go onto your skin, not the bristles! :-)

Overall, I have no hesitation in recommending these brushes to you, they have surpassed my expectations and I am DYING to try out some more, so on pay day I will totally be making an order. Have you ever tried Sigma brushes before?

P.S: Make sure that you stick around as I’ll be posting a giveaway later, for one lucky reader to win this exact set for themselves.

P.P.S: If you can't wait for the giveaway and just want to buy some brushes right away then please feel free to use my LINK, you'll get a free gift for doing so and also if you use discount code 'GLOW2011' then you'll also get 10% off your order - not bad eh?!

Competition - Win TWO Yves Saint Laurent Lipsticks!

Fancy winning TWO utterly fabulous, luxurious Yves Saint Laurent lipsticks? Course you do! Well you’re in the right place as I have 2 to give away to one of my lovely followers.
First of all I have a Rouge Volupte Lipstick in shade 10, Rose Fou/Provocative Pink – it’s the same shade that I bought whilst at the airport in my Holiday Duty Free Haul and I love the vivid pink colour so much that I went out and bought another one to give away!
The second lipstick is their Rouge Pur lipstick in 126, Rose Cachemire/Cashmere Pink; a dusky rose hue. I picked this colour as I thought that one (very) bright and one fairly neutral lipstick would make up the perfect prize.

Anyway, to win these beautiful lipsticks (and they really are beautiful - just look at the luxe casing too), all you have to do is:

1. Follow me via GOOGLE FRIEND CONNECT (see the picture below if you’re unsure what this is) – you MUST do this, otherwise your entry will not be valid.
2. Leave me a comment in the post below with your Google Friend Connect name (the name that shows above the GFC icons when you’ve followed me – see example picture below).
3. In the comments box, please also leave details that I can use to contact you (it can be email, twitter or any other way that I can get hold of you) if you win!

4. For one extra extra entry you can Tweet about the competition using the following tweet #Competition #Win TWO Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) Lipsticks with The Beauty Scoop! http://www.thebeautyscoop.co.uk’. If you do tweet, then please leave the link to the tweet in your comment, or in an extra comment so that I can easily find it. You still need to follow via GFC to have a valid entry!

This competition will end when I reach 1000 followers on Google Friend Connect, so get sharing! :-)
