Nail Porn: My New Chrome & Holographic Nails!

I’ve always loved having long nails; they’ve always grown strong and long for as long as I can remember. I actually gave up violin aged 9 after playing for just a year, because I was fed up of being told every week to cut my nails, and every week being told that the slither I had filed off wasn’t good enough and so I took up playing the flute instead. Even at that age, I knew my nails were more important to me than a violin. 😉

However, recently I’ve been going through a lot of stress and have noticed the toll it’s taking on them as they’ve been snapping quite low down, so for the first time in my life I’ve had to have them repaired with a few acrylic extensions. I took this opportunity to head to a new salon that I’d seen and been impressed with on Instagram because of the variety of nail colours and designs they showcased on there and these petrol-like, holographic nails are what I came out with, and I couldn’t be more pleased with them. Plus, I think Cobi, the nail technician there made the acrylic tips blend in perfectly with the shape of my natural nails, don’t you think? 😍

I also tried to get a video to show you how holographic they went under a direct light, but my cat wanted in on the action, and she's cute so why not. ;-)

Diet & Weight Loss: No Carb Pizza Omelette!

As a female who wasn’t blessed with the ability to lose weight and be toned just by existing, I find myself constantly looking for ways to achieve this but without feeling like I might die of boredom at having to eat bland, tasteless food; or indeed feel like I’m missing out on lots of other delicious foods that I know I enjoy and crave deeply from the exact second that I make the decision to get back on the healthy eating wagon.

And, because I’m a vegetarian, I have always found myself relying perhaps a little too heavily on carbs also, to make a meal feel substantial, filling and obviously tasty. So knowing I needed to lower my carb reliance and increase protein to start seeing further results, I spent the last 4 years forcing myself to find ways to eat eggs so that I could actually enjoy them, which meant that they weren’t too eggy, both in taste and texture; as despite not being vegan, I didn’t eat eggs (unless in cake) for a very, very long time.

I just couldn’t get my head around what they were (let’s not even mention it now as I am still not at ease with it and I don’t want to undo my hard work over these years, ha) so my protein intake was less than impressive. I have now mastered the art of making both omelettes, and scrambled eggs by adding vegetables, cheese, and other flavourings that have enough other textures/tastes to make them actually quite enjoyable to me.

Success… I now have a healthy, low carb meal option that actually leaves me feeling full, and satiated. I still miss carb heavy food, but now look for ways to try and satisfy cravings for them without leaving myself feeling guilty that I’ve fallen off the wagon again. Obviously a treat is fine, but as a lifestyle change that is realistic, I need to enjoy the food I am eating and not just eating it because it’s healthy.

One massive craving for me that I really miss whilst trying to be healthy has to be pizza. I bloody love it! But it doesn’t love my waistline… it’s just not healthy, and that carb-heavy base makes me put on a stone just thinking about it (sympathy please). So how could I find a way to satisfy a regularly recurring craving for the gooey, pizza goodness? Well, with an omelette base, of course.

Luckily, I have been sneaky well informed, and researched enough to have found a ‘diet’ that might suit me as it allows me to eat cheese(!); and not only allows, but encourages (high fat, low carb – keto diet)… yep, I think I might have found ‘the one’ - diet wise, anyway.

And so I decided to do an eggsperiment (geddit? I’ll book my own taxi for that) to see if I could make this omelette taste anything like a passable pizza to me. And by goodness, I think I actually have! Obviously it’s never going to replace your favourite pizza from wherever, but it’s also not going to make you die from diet guilt, or have your buttons popping off your clothes by indulging in it.

Ingredients:

2-3 eggs (or more if you’re making for more than one person, or particularly hungry)
Chopped tomatoes/passata
Herbs (mixed, or fresh basil works)
Chopped onion
Cheese (hurrah, I used cheddar but any melty one that you fancy is all good)
Salt & Pepper to taste

Or whatever toppings you fancy, obviously. I just kept this one very simple, as I didn’t know if it would work or not.

Method:

I cooked the chopped onion in a small amount of oil (I used olive, but any is fine, just don’t use too much as you don’t want a greasy pizza sauce) until translucent, then added the tomatoes, herbs, and seasoning before cooking through so the flavours were developed enough. You could make this in advance and freeze it, or use it as a base for pasta sauce too. You could do this without the onion, and add them at the end, or not at all if you prefer.

Then, I decided to stick to just a plain omelette base as I knew there’d be less chance of it breaking. I whisked the eggs with salt and pepper, then cooked it both sides in a frying pan so that it was golden brown, and feeling fairly sturdy.

I then transferred my omelette to a foil lined tray and spooned enough ‘pizza sauce’ to cover it, sprinkled plenty of cheese over it (and any other ingredients you choose), and then put it under the grill until it was melted (this particular cheese didn't melt as well as I'd hoped, but still tasted good).

Then I ate it, obviously. I really, really enjoyed it too. So I actually do think I have found something I can eat and enjoy regularly that does satisfy that pizza craving I get, until such a day where I can have a real pizza as a treat.

Happy days. I can’t believe I’ve written so much about eggs though, ha.

I'm back! A Little Explanation For My Relative Silence!

So you’ll probably all have noticed that I haven’t been around for a while; or perhaps you hadn’t noticed but now I come to mention it… but I’m going to indulge myself and pretend that you had all most definitely noticed my absence, even if you hadn’t missed my ramblings.

There’s been a lot going on in my life, and in turn I felt hat these things had largely killed off my writing mojo, meaning that whenever I even tried to put fingers to keyboard (since pen to paper doesn’t really happen these days), I doubted that I was writing anything worth reading… and more to the point, that you guys would actually enjoy reading too.

So I'm going to give you an idea of what's been going on that stunted my writing abilities; although I’m not going to go into everything in detail, as I’d be writing for days, and you’d be reading for an equally long time too.

Over the last few years, I’ve obviously been through the breakup of my long term relationship (I wrote about that previously), which I guess is where my writing started to suffer; but then adding things like house moves, being messed around by people I’ve grown to care about who ended up letting me down, and a sexual assault that happened a couple of years ago have added to the 'problem'... and those things in themselves would usually suffice as an explanation.

However, I guess the thing that has affected my desire, and ability to write the most, is the unexpected, sudden and traumatic death of my mum; the most important person in my life.

My mum was a beautiful, amazing, caring, strong, inspiring and unintentionally hilarious woman, and I adored her with every part of my being... she was my everything; and so losing her at the relatively young age of 69 when she had not had any immediately life threatening illnesses, or diseases leading up to her death was probably the hardest thing I have ever had to go through, and that’s really saying something as I’ve been through a lot of horrific experiences in my life.

I’ve always found it enjoyable to write, and have always been able to inject humour and light-hearted, jokey comments in anything I produce… and so whilst I’ve been wondering what the point in most things is, I found it hard to muster up the fun and excitement to write about anything I’d usually write about on here.

That being said, I still have the passion, excitement and love for everything involved, which is why I’m sat here in bed, at 2.45am writing this. Inspiration struck, and I thought it would be a good way to find my mojo if I wrote about something I have massively felt in my heart, which is what allowed me to write my mum’s eulogy whilst I was still reeling from losing her; her eulogy is the last thing I actually managed to write – and I’m going to include that below, because I think it allows you to learn just a very small amount about why she meant so much to me.

I think writing from the heart like this feels easier as it doesn’t really require me to find and inject the fun factor, or humour that I usually include, but didn’t seem to be able to produce at any point of previous attempts to write. It’s also allowed me the chance to explain where I’ve been, so it’s a 2 birds 1 stone kinda thing for me. So, hopefully this is the start of my mojo, and inspiration returning.

P.S, I've changed. :-) Went blonde, got fillers and that. More about that very soon. X

Mum’s Eulogy

The collage I made to be framed for her funeral.

“Usually, words are my thing… although seemingly not when it comes to this; writing words that mean so much to me,  my mum. who I miss so much already. This is honestly the last thing I thought I’d have to write; at least so soon, and so suddenly… which also makes it the hardest thing I’ve ever had to find the words for.

My mum was the most amazing person I have ever known. She wasn’t perfect, for instance with her seemingly selective hearing, which often made for amusing attempts at her trying to convince me that she had actually listened to what I had said, but without being able to reply, nor repeat back to me what I had said… but she wasn’t far off being perfect in my eyes.

Her sense of humour was lavatorial, and that’s putting it politely. Even on her last day with us, she was able to enjoy a laugh and joke, and at her own expense too. Although telling her a joke wasn’t always as straight forward as you might expect; from telling jokes and getting the polite acknowledgement laugh, followed a few minutes later by the belly laugh, signalling the moment that she actually understood, and ‘got’ the joke, to explaining the joke and her still not getting it.
It was like the ongoing onomatopoeia joke that resurfaced every Christmas without fail., as I could not get her to understand what onomatopoeia meant, despite many attempts to explain it simply – in fact the only time she proclaimed to maybe know what it meant, she told me it was ‘a word that sounds like bronchitis’. She was convinced that if she found a dictionary from the 50’s, ‘that word would not be in it’ and only truly believed me that it was a real word when Sally from Coronation Street said it in an episode last year.

We had many, many laughs at my mum’s expense over the years, something she was completely fine about, luckily. Some of my favourites include telling her that they’d taken gullible out of the dictionary, to which she was absolutely disgusted, exclaiming ‘well that’s just stupid, how can they take a word and say it doesn’t mean anything any more?!’ and even when I tried to explain it was a joke, by asking her what gullible meant, she replied ‘well nothing any more, not now they’ve taken it out of the dictionary’, and in a similar way when I told her that if you said gullible really slowly, it sounded like you were saying orange. I had her repeating it for 5 or 10 minutes, desperately trying to get it to sound like orange and not even clicking on when I kept asking her what gullible meant – her reply being ‘that you’ll believe anything’ as she’d accepted that it was still in the dictionary after the previous joke, but that was swiftly followed ‘but I just can’t get it to sound like orange’.

We loved Christmas with mum, there was never a dull moment; be that from her bursting out in song at the only part of each song she actually knew, or thought she knew the words to, bragging about being able to take her tablets with a glass of Baileys and then promptly throwing them back up… or her joining in with some reindeer racing, having picked the computer chair, complete with wheels to sit on at the dining table, before falling off it – cue an awkward silence from us all, waiting to see if she was ok, before bursting out laughing after she herself did.

And the fact that you could actually tell mum exactly what you’d got her for Christmas, even on Christmas Eve, and it would still be a surprise to her when she actually opened them. I’m still not sure if that was her memory failing, or the selective hearing at work though.

In recent years, whilst in possession of a smart phone, she discovered YouTube and funny animal videos, often finding herself stuck for hours wetting herself (probably quite literally) laughing at them. I introduced her to the world of Facebook, which she never truly used (or knew how to), or even understood, but could work her way around enough to see the plethora of animal videos I shared to her wall. I loved her watching them whilst she was with me, seeing her laugh so much, and hearing that wicked, dirty laugh of hers was half of the enjoyment for me.

Her other favourite pastime on her phone was googling line dancing steps. I remember her first few Google searches were so very polite, asking ‘could you tell me the steps to <whichever dance it was> please’. She spent much of her life suffering with arthritis, yet even when she could barely walk, she’d still go off line dancing, even if she could only supervise and direct people how to do the correct steps.

I remember giving her a computer, so she could do some card making on it, and the only time I believe she ever tried to use it, she told me it was broken. So I went to have a look at it, turned it on and there was nothing at all wrong with it. She asked what I’d done, I told her I’d switched it on and then asked what she had done. She had only switched the screen on. When I asked what she thought that big box was, her reply was ‘I don’t know, just a box’ - she was very special, needs.

She loved charity shop shopping, snapping up all the clothes that took her fancy, despite the fact that she only really got dressed 2, or maybe 3 times a week. She loved owning nice things, to the point that they’d get put into a ‘safe place’ and promptly forgotten about, or saved for best… but there was never quite a ‘best’ enough time for her to make use of most of them.

She was a total magpie, always weighed down in her favourite jewellery in a multitude of colours and styles. In fact, she wore earrings to the point that you could see through the bottom piercing, and happily accepted me taking the micky out of her ‘baggy ears’.

She was a very independent lady, and didn’t really like a fuss… which unfortunately is partly why we are all meeting here like this today. She lived life to the fullest of her capabilities, never really complained, and was surrounded by people who adored her; so whilst we all feel her life has been cut too short, I’m sure she’d have chosen this life than a longer, but less fulfilled one.

I just can’t believe I’m never going to see, speak to or hear her again. You were my absolute world, mum. I love you so much, always will… and I will never forget you.

If love could have saved her, she would have lived forever.”

Raving Mad: Cream Birthday Part 1 and a Little Update!

You may or may not have noticed that I've been a bit of a party girl ever since becoming single last year, I have basically reverted back to type, back to how I was pre Mr Ex Beauty Scoop; and so I've decided that along with the usual beauty, fashion and lifestyle bits that I normally feature on here (and will continue to do so, even more now my internet seems stable again), that I'll also be writing about events and club nights I've been to, since they're such a large part of my life these days.

Posts that I write will be about the nights themselves, and also as 'What I Wore' fashion and beauty type features too.. so there'll still be a definite fashion and beauty element in there for you all. It recently occurred to me that I do my make-up for these nights out that I have each weekend, and you never get to see it... so I'll be showing you my favourite looks, must have products and tips/techniques for stay put make-up that will survive even the longest night out. :-)

I also have a larger article planned about my favourite events from this year so far, and events to look out for in the future in the pipeline (I'm just editing down a mass of photographs with a partially working laptop, which is taking some time and finalising the text), but this weekend I shall be raving my tush off at Cream's birthday (part 1)  in Liverpool, so expect to see what I wore and my thoughts on the night very soon.

If you're fancying a night out there yourself, then get yourself over to Skiddle for a ticket as it's due to be a biiiig, brilliant night. I can't wait.

Happy Birthday To Meeeeeeee, I Am Twenty Threeeeeee (again)!

It's that time of year for me again today, getting old day haha. And, whilst I don't plan on growing old gracefully, or ever looking my age (if it can be helped), I do dread the official upping of age all the same.

So, I plan to spend my weekend with my great mates, drinking myself sober (probably) and probably having way too much silly, stupid fun, like I was having on a recent night out in a club, with my mates Rodney mask - see picture. Said mask was also worn around my waist, and wiggled around a bit too... ha. Anyone else have these ridiculous nights out? :-)

The dress is by Forever Unique at The Chic Boutique, and I love it!

Hope you all have a great weekend too. x

Wordless (ish) Wednesday - I Don't Have a Drink Problem, But I Do Need These in My Life.

You may remember a post I did back in July, "I Don't Have a Drink Problem, But I Do Need These in My Life." where I had found a couple of items that I rather liked the look of to sneak booze into clubs and festivals, but unfortunately were only available in America, or to be shipped at huge expense. Well I've just come across another item on Facebook that looks ideal for the task AND is available in the UK too. Winning.

The 'Bev-Brush' (£15.74, currently on offer), holds 185ml of fluid, and can even be used as a proper brush - complete with mirror on the back. I am seriously tempted with this. ;-)

Another item I saw on the same site was this 'Bev-Cam' (£10.59), which holds 145ml of fluid and seems legit enough to get through some security, maybe?

Would you use any of these? Or have you got any other sneaky ways to save money whilst out drinking? Ha. x

I Have the Lurgy... Blerrrgh! Oh, and Happy New Year! x

First of all, let me say Happy New Year, I hope that you all had a great time and have started the year off with a bang, and on a positive note!!

I haven't been around much, as I've had absolutely no broadband and only have a phone for connection, which can prove difficult when trying to do anything more productive than browsing Facebook - or so it appears! Hence why I am recycling an image I used last year for this post!

I've also come down with the lurgy, which hasn't helped matters... it's all happening here, ha.

Anyway, I hope to be back and blogging very soon, I am working on new stuff, and so as soon as my internet is back up (hoping to have it fixed by next week), there'll be (hopefully) no stopping me, then.

Hope you're all well. xx

Wella Wednesday: New Hair.

New hair time, well similar to before but just slight tweaks in that I wanted the orange brightening again as it had started to dull, and there's also a different pink in there too, but it's subtle... I want it brighter next time. :-) I also had just about an inch taken off all over and a few long layers kept in.

I must say, I am not getting bored at all with my main colour, or the orange but I did toy with the idea of having a bluey/turquoise as my contrast colour, or very bright pink (or both)... maybe I'll go for that in my next appointment, or the one after. I do love the bright shades, and am getting them done whilst I'm still just about young enough to pull it off, ha.
As it was applied.

When dry, both straight and then curled.
The technique the dye was applied in is called Flashlights, and is apparently where hair is going now that Ombré and Dip Dying are apparently 'fizzling out'. Basically, on my hair it's my normal hair colour, then pink, then orange then pink again.. so it's not just the one shade in each length of hair.
Back and front, styled.

The colour I have on my main bit of hair is Koleston with a shade mixed up for me, made up of: 55/65 with 0/65, 0/28 and 8/81 (roots and mid lengths) with makes a slightly lighter pinky, purple-y, red shade; and then also Magma for the pink and orange parts. Magma lifts and colours at the same time, so effectively cuts out having to pre-lighten/bleach and is permanent.

To style, I had it blown with volume, and then curled using the new Wella straighteners (not yet out), before having the curls combed and shaken through to loosen, and set with hairspray. I love it.

What do you think, like it?

Happy Halloween!

This picture was actually taken at the end of August (during the bank holiday weekend), when I was on a night out and took a fancy dress outfit as I wasn't entirely sure if I was going to dress up for the 'Fucked Up Fairytale' Ball at Rave on in Leeds. I was going to go as a Fairytale witch, but with a twist.

Anyway, I decided against it - as it's actually a size or 2 too big... but whilst drunk in Manchester (hence the one stocking on and one tied around my neck) the night before, I put it on to see if my mates noticed I'd changed (well, not changed, but put it on over my actual dress) - they found it hilarious, but I clearly looked like an idiot, in a witches outfit like that, in August - on well, fun and games haha.

Are you out tonight? Will you be dressing up, if so what as?

Wordless (ish) Wednesday!

I am ill, I barely have a voice and I'm coughing like it's going out of fashion. My brain is a fuzzy mess, but I hope to get a post or 2 up soon and I definitely hope to be fixed enough to go out on Friday and Saturday - my weekend absolutely cannot suffer for this.

Anybody else caught the dreaded lurgy? x

Me, Ibiza, Photo's. :-)

General messing around at the airport and on the plane, plus the first sunset viewed from the first hotel.
So, as you know, I've been on holiday, and these are just a few of my pictures from my time on The White Isle (Ibiza). Apologies for the picture quality, I've had to download some of my own images from Facebook due to a mess up with my SD card that was in my camera. There's been fun, frolics, friends and many other F words, but it has been amazing, I loved every single second.
First few days, drinking, meals, morning afters.
By far my favourite events on the island were the boat parties, namely Driftwood and the Island of Trance boat party, also Captured festival and the subsequent after party was a definite highlight too. Top quality trance being played, unlike in the larger 'super clubs' with the superstar dj's and a good crowd to boot, what's not to like?! I'll be writing about these events separately though, so do keep your eyes out for that one!
Boat parties and general shenanigans on the boats - you need to check these out if you visit Ibiza. Also a few images of me being caught 'in the moment' without even knowing I was being snapped, ha.
Obviously there was a lot of alcohol involved in my time out there, so messing around and making a total idiot of ourselves was high on the agenda, hence many of the silly, not so flattering images included in this post! However, I am all about the fun, and not censoring images that were taken in the many moments of fun, that aren't quite so pretty is a consequence - sorry about that, lol.
L-R: First 2 are top of Ushuai Tower for Sasha, Pool Shot (no make-up eek), Bora Bora Beach before Sasha @ Ushuaia and me being an idiot at Captured Festival.
Finally some of the many group shots, we never did manage to get all of us together at one point for what would have been an epic image, but that's the problem with having fun... scheduling anything other than that is a total no go.
Good times.
Meals, messing about with eyeliner/crisps and aftersun in our hotel room whilst drunk, the U shaped potato skin to make U.V, Superclubs (Privilege), Festivals (Captured) and Sunsets (at Mambo).
Below are 4 shots in the curry house on our last night all together, it's the closest we got to a group shot, it took 4 attempts and we still didn't manage it, but here's the attempts of capturing as many of us as possible in one shot, ha.
Hope you've enjoyed seeing a few of my snaps, sorry if I've bored you to death, I'm still overly excited about how much I loved being out there with most of my besties. I almost didn't come back, ha.

Hi Honey, I'm Home!!

View from our hotel in Playa D'en Bossa.
Sunset at Mambos.
View from Playa D'en Bossa hotel.
Sun.

Hola chicas.

This is just a quick post to say hello and let you know that I am back from my holiday to Ibiza. I had such an amazing time out there, having the most fun you can possibly have on two feet with the best friends on the planet. I met some awesome new friends, caught up with some others that I hadn't seen for years and generally had the time of my life out there. I am knackered, I need a holiday to recover from my holiday, but that's because there was too much fun to be had and sleep obviously came secondary to that. ;-)

I'll be posting many images over the next few days, both from the holiday and also from my clubbing and partying antics over the last few months - since I have failed massively at dodging cameras since being single, and actually haven't minded how I looked on some of the photographs as much as I thought I might.

I had intended on posting the clubbing/partying images earlier (and generally posting more regularly to boot), but alas there's always been something to stop me in my tracks, this time it was a local issue with the internet that made the internet either keep dropping out, or only work at snails pace... which has apparently now been resolved; and also more recently I have been in a massive rush, getting myself ready to make it to that plane on time.

I hope you've all been well and I am totally looking forward to sharing my escapades with you guys, and showing you some of the fabulous products I've been discovering recently too. It's definitely time to get my writing/blogging mojo back. The images above are just a few scenic ones from the island.

Adios for now.

Claire. xx

I Don't Have a Drink Problem, But I Do Need These in My Life.

Since I've been single, my social life has been my life. I have lived for the weekends, and spent a lot of time with friends. This has made a massive dent in my bank balance, since getting tipsy in clubs and pubs isn't the cheapest way to get your tipsy on.

So when I heard about a couple of fashion items that could carry booze secretly, my interest was immediately piqued, especially as I tend to drink spirits, since they're less calorific (gin is almost healthy, since it's made with berries, practically one of your five a day, surely?! Ha!), less bloating, and you can sneak more volume in than things like wine and beer.

Unfortunately it appears that these are either available from the USA (with expensive shipping costs), or expensive full stop, so I shall be on the hunt for something similar over here/for less, in a bid to get leathered for less.

The first thing on my *need to have* list just HAS to be this fantastic bracelet from Cynthia Rowley ($225 from cynthiarowley.com/) which is made from stainless steel. You can order from outside of the US by contacting them directly here! I have no idea how much it holds, but frankly, I don't care as I love the chunky styling of the bracelet anyway. The image on the right is apparently Gwyneth Paltrow, who is also meant to be a fan, and if it's good enough for her, it's good enough for me. ;-)
The final thing, which I can only find on American sites is the "Wine Rack Flask Bra" for $27.59 (but works out at about $82 with shipping to UK, eek), which is genius... but I'd never put wine in it; I mean who would want warm wine?

This is perfect for spirits in my opinion, as you could buy a mixer with ice in, and top it up with your bra haha. The only concern for me would be the decreasing boobs throughout the night, and also the space left in the top half of your clothing.

Do you have any top tips for sneaking booze into events, what's the most creative you've been when doing this... or am I alone in my plight? xx

New Life, New (ish) Hair!

Foil Head - With Normal colour applied and bleach in the foiled sections.
"I'm going to wash that man right out of my hair"... or at least colour him out of it!

Sooo, once I had got my head around the massive change in my life, I decided that although I LOVE my hair colour as it is, that it might be nice to have a slight change... and something I've wanted to try with my current hair colour for some time, is having orange slices or sections running through it.

I discussed this with the technician at the Wella Studio and said it was either going to be a genius idea, or totally horrific. She seemed quite enthusiastic about the orange/purple-y combination, and so it was decided that I'd have a number of orange 'tips' woven into my hair, in a kind of balayage fashion.
Orange being applied.
My usual colour was applied to my roots and to the ends that weren't being changed, and a tonne of bleach applied to the chosen ends to make sure the orange was bright, and vibrant. Once the bleach and colour had done their thing, my hair was rinsed, shampooed and the orange dye mixed up and applied. There was actually no going back at this point, and so I might have been ever so slightly shitting myself at how the end result would look.
Eek, a bit disappointed at this point.
Fast forward to drying time, after the final rinse and I was a bit disappointed. The colour looked a bit wishy washy, not as bright, or orange as I had imagined. However, once my hair had been fully dried and styled, I was actually over the moon with the end result. Ok, it could have been a bit brighter and more orange, but I was so pleased with how it looked overall, especially when curled with hair straighteners (which is how I do my hair, mostly anyway), that I didn't mind this.
Finished result.
I walked out of the salon with a massive smile on my face; the orange was a complete success, and one that I'll be continuing for some time to come as I can't see me getting bored of it any time soon. I love it.

What I will say though, is that the orange did wash out very quickly, pretty much the first wash. However I was sent home with a bottle of Colour Fresh in shade 7/43 to refresh the orange on every other wash, until my next appointment, which is next week - so hopefully the orange shade will start to build up and stay put longer next time.

What do you think, do you think it works?

I'm Back...

Hello lovelies.

It's been quite some time since I've felt able to write anything that didn't sound sad and pathetic due to what has been going on in my life this year, however I have actually started to feel like I'm ready to come back - or at least ease myself back into writing/blogging as I have missed it (and you guys) so, so much.

To just give a very short version of why I have been away for so long, as I don't want to get too deep about it on here, my fiancé of over 9 years (Mr Beauty Scoop) decided that whilst we were trying for a baby, he'd actually quite like to have an affair with somebody at work for a few weeks in his lunch half hour, in the back of my car. Anyway, I tried to save the relationship but he decided to carry on going behind my back and lying to me... and then left me anyway. Some other stuff went on, but I don't feel able to go into that as I'm not over that bit yet, but obviously my life has been turned upside down, inside out and god knows whatever else.

I'm getting through it though, I've started living a life again, going out with friends old and new and am actually finding some happiness in my new situation. Another silver lining in this is that I've lost a LOT of weight (down to a size 12 from a size 16 back in December/January), and have now joined a gym to tone up... just look at the top image, I have a waist now (although that was before I started going to the gym) and the image below, I'm getting cheekbones again (again, same night before I started going to the gym) haha.
I've had some really lovely emails from some of you over the time I've been away, that I just haven't felt able to reply to without bursting into tears or whatever; but this will be one of the first tasks on my 'to do' list, along with the 3,000+ other emails that need dealing with. Apologies to those waiting for replies, my sad and pathetic sounding writing has also applied to the email side of things... so I just took myself away completely, in the hope it would get me back sooner. :-)

Thanks for sticking around, I really appreciate it - onwards and upwards. xxxx

I'm a Huffington Post Blogger!

I was asked some time ago if I'd like to blog for The Huffington Post, and I accepted as it's a great opportunity. However, as you know, I had a lot of technical/internet issues this year, so I've only just been able to get going, with my first post going up on Monday (it's an edited version of a very old post from here). Hopefully there's lots more to come, so long as my internet and laptop continue to work!

Feel free to head over and have a read. Hope you like it.

Wordless(ish) Wednesday!

Couldn't resist taking these pictures of Chloe whilst she was lay down and chilling out on her favourite throw (with one of her other favourite things, envelopes, which you can see in a couple of the shots) - she's too cute! <3
