MAC Blue Flame - Swatch & Mini Review!

I’m still currently working on my computer errors (backing up now ready for a reformat) so my ability to photograph, edit and upload new products is very limited (also known as nonexistent) at the moment. However, whilst backing up, I came across a couple of photographs for a MAC eyeshadow that I have yet to post about, I believe that it’s from the Cool Heat collection from about 2008 ish?! I bought it from The Cosmetics Company Store at Bicester Village a while back but haven’t really thought about posting about it until I found the 2 photographs whilst rooting through my files.

Anyway, it’s a really nice shade of blue and actually, I think it could be the one that got me wearing more blue shades again, as I don’t think I had worn them for many years after wearing them (badly) in my teens, ha! It can be a bit patchy when used dry, I find that using a bit of saline/Fix+ on a brush (just a very small amount) and using it ‘wet’ (actually it’s only just damp, so don’t go soaking your brushes) gives a much better finish both in terms of evenness and also pigmentation too!

The photographs were taken on my old camera, and the flash reflecting against the sheen of the shadow has washed the colour out a bit, it’s actually a bit darker on the skin do apologies for that – and apologies for the lack of new products, I think I might just have sussed a way to work around the issue without reformatting straight away, it’s only a theory at the moment, whilst I’ve been writing this post, actually but hopefully I’ll have some new product posts asap.

MAC Summer 2011 'Surf Baby' Lipstick - Hibiscus!

MAC Hibiscus is part of the recently (ish) released Surf Baby collection, and is a lipstick that has ended up being one of my favourites, which was kind of inevitable, since it’s limited edition.

It’s a fabulous coral hue that I initially thought might not work for me, even though I loved the look of the colour in the tube, and love corals in general... but I’ve (happily) been proven wrong and it has become one of my most reached for lipsticks!

It is richly pigmented and applies brilliantly, although you couldn’t really tell this on the photo due to my slap-dash application (I had taken better photographs but they got corrupted along with a lot of others recently) plus, it stays on for AGES!

I really recommend this without any hesitation, I think you can still buy it in some stores/concessions, thankfully, as I’m about to buy a back up because I love it so much!

MAC Semi Precious - Golden Gaze Mineralize Eye Shadow!

As soon as I saw Golden Gaze on Temptalia, I knew that it had to be mine. It’s a beautiful, blackened gold with an almost metallic shimmer running through it. This post will be pic-heavy as the shadow catches the light so differently with every movement that I just had to post more – it’s almost a duochrome to my eye.

Dry:

The shadow is so pigmented, even when used dry – although I would say that my preference is to wear this wet as it makes the foiled effect look even more intense, and it also cuts down on the (quite heavy) fall-down from application.

I also found that application was easier when I used a sponge applicator to position the shadow where I wanted it (which also helped to minimise fall-down a little bit), and then used a brush to blend out. Obviously everybody has a different technique though, so you may find a better way to use it – feel free to comment if you do, I’m always open to new techniques and ideas!

Wet:

The right side of the above swatches -> shows a second swipe of the product lefr on the finger after the first swatch - just to show you how pigmented it is!

I completely adore this eye shadow (I'm worried that my photography skills do not do it justice), and even Mr Beauty Scoop said he liked it – which is practically unheard of as he has little to no interest in make-up! I don’t think I have anything remotely similar in my make-up collection, nor can I think of anything that immediately jumps to mind when I think of potential dupes.

I have a feeling that this shade may be one of the more popular shades and could be one of the first to sell out, since it seems so unique, more pigmented, and with a better formula than some of the other hues in the Semi-Precious collection.

MAC & Chanel Mini Haul!

I had a little spend at weekend, I say a little spend but it was still almost £50 (but don't tell Mr Beauty Scoop) on 3 items. Still the 3 items are pretty worth it, in my opinion anyway!

I treated myself to Chanel's Miami Peach (203) Le Vernis nail polish which I will swatch very soon. I had this in my shopping cart at Boots.com but I spent so long dithering over what else to buy that it went out of stock. Panic ensued and I took to Twitter, hoping somebody might know where I could find it but to no avail! Luckily I was able to pick it up in store at Debenhams in Milton Keynes (where I was, visiting the almost in-laws)! It's such a beautiful colour in the bottle and I have seen some lovely swatches, so hopefully it will look just as good on my nails!

I then stopped by the MAC counter as I really wanted to have a proper look at the new collections, Fashion Flower and Semi Precious (eyes in particular)! I could have spent a fortune, but unfortunately because I had Mr Beauty Scoop with me, there was no way to hide what I was buying, so I plumped for Golden Gaze, a very shimmery blackened gold hue that I've been lusting after ever since I saw it on Temptalia.com! I will have to buy the other shades that I want, online - ha!

I also managed to justify buying Prep+Prime Line Filler Base whilst there as I said it could be good for disguising the dent in my forehead that I acquired on a night out at Christmas (last year) when I fell over coming out of the hotel and landed on my head (literally, my head was the first thing to hit the floor), leaving a huge dent where it hit. At the time I didn't think I would be left with a permanent reminder, but as time has gone on this appears to be the case. Anyway, this reason seemed to sit well with Mr Beauty Scoop and so it was purchased - result! Now if I could just think of similar reasons for me to be able to openly buy ALL the items I want, that would be great!
