Asos Order - Done!

I've been 'window shopping' for bags for a while on Asos, putting items into my basket and then not being able to choose which ones I should buy, and in which colour. So when I got to my bare minimum in terms of the styles I really loved the look of, I decided not to choose which colour, and instead ordered them all. My thinking being that I can send back any that don't grab me so much in the flesh (that's the theory, I might actually like them all - eek!) and then at least I've made some progress.

My items!

  • Asos Twist Lock Satchels in Mink and Tan - £42 each!
  • Asos Twist Lock Satchel in Chocolate - £35 (showing as sold out now though)!
  • Paul & Joe Nail Enamel Trio - £8.75 (total bargain)!
  • Nica Alicia Satchel, Black - £30!
  • Rocketdog Boots - £28 each!
  • River Island Superskinny Jeans (still can't believe I'm buying 'super skinny' anything, hope they fit, ha) £27!
  • Firetrap Wysteria Boots in Grey Suedette - £40!

I'm still waiting for the majority of my order to arrive, just one bag arrived so far with a broken clasp, so that is bring replaced. What do you think of the items I've bought?

Chanel 'Les Jeans De Chanel' For Fashion's Night Out 2011!

LE VERNIS : Blue Rebel, Coco Blue and Blue Boy.

Creative director of CHANEL Makeup, Peter Phillips has designed this trio of nail polishes, especially for Vogue's annual Fashion's Night Out celebrations! The theme of the collection is quite clearly, denim, and I've got to say, I think they look fabulous. I especially like the look of Blue Rebel and Blue Boy!

"A gradation of three shades, from medium to very pale blue, as essential and fun as a well-loved and wellworn pair of jean"

Available from tomorrow, 8th September 2011 in 'Selfridges W1, Chanel Bond Street and Selfridges Boutiques' and from Saturday 10th September 2011 in 'Chanel Makeup Studios in Harrods, Fenwicks Newcastle, House of Fraser Glasgow, and also Chanel Fashion Boutiques'.

ORLY 'Holiday Soiree' Collection For Christmas 2011!

I've just caught wind of the ORLY Christmas 2011 collection, 'Holiday Soiree' and I have to say, it's a stunner! At least 4 of the 6 shades are on my *must have* list after seeing the press release picture (shown above), those being: Androgynie, Oui, Le Chateau and IngĂ©nue... although I wouldn't say no to the other 2 either, if I am honest!

Out in November!

What do you think, do you like the look of the collection? Are any shades jumping out at you already? x

Chanel Le Vernis Nail Polish, Miami Peach (203) - Swatched!

Chanel’s Miami Peach nail polish is a beautiful peachy hue with subtle gold shimmer running through it. I’d say on my skin that it was a pink-y peach, although actually in some lights (as you’ll see in the photographs) it actually seemed more orange-y!

I really love this summery shade, it applied nicely, although it did require 3 or 4 coats to achieve the desired ‘look’ - 3 looked ‘ok’ but as you can see on the photographs 4 coats look a lot better! It also dried quickly between coats which made things easier on that score.

Wear time was great too, I think it was about 4 or 5 days before I noticed any tip wear which is perfectly acceptable for me, and I think I could have probably worn it a week without any issues if I didn’t have so many other nail polishes to swatch for you haha!

Likey?

Chanel Fall 2011 Le Vernis Nail Colour - GRAPHITE (529)!

Meet Chloe, my new model!
Another of the very soon to be released Chanel Fall 2011 collection is Graphite, a beautifully metallic grey-silver nail polish that stays true to the name it was given, even down to the finish of the polish – see the picture below.
I really love the colour of this; it’s one of those shades that you can wear with anything without it being boring. It’s anything BUT boring, actually as I find the colour can pick up different hues from the surrounding areas to being out very slight changes in its tone. It doesn’t actually CHANGE colour, but if you’re near something brown/orange or even yellow you tend to notice the polish has more of a gold tinge to it. If you’re next to something white, or blue even I think it shows up more like a true silver-grey etc.

To look at the finish, at a first glance it just looks very metallic and shiny, very minx-like; but when you look closer you can see that it’s actually almost a very fine glittery effect where you can see the different tones running through it. It’s a gorgeous polish, and one that I find myself looking at almost constantly, moving my fingers to make the light reflect off it even more – is that weird? I seem to do it with a lot of pretty nail polishes.

Application was great; it applied with ease and took 3 coats to avoid any patchiness. It also dried quickly, meaning that the application process was over and done with just as quickly which is fabulous for me as I love nail polish but hate applying it.

I got a small chip after 3 days of wear; however it was near the cuticle and could potentially be my application as the rest has stayed as perfect as the day I put it on. The chip was easily disguised too, because of the finish of the polish I was able to fill it in and then just go over the whole nail after, without it looking like I had done a repair.

When I first saw this polish, the first thing that popped into my head as a potential dupe was OPI ‘Lucerrne-tainly Look Marvelous’ but after comparing the 2 polishes I can 100% say that it is NOT a dupe. The OPI is darker for a start and leans towards a more blue-toned grey whereas I think Graphite has more of a green-y gold tinge to it in comparison, to my eye anyway!

The finishes are different too, at first glance you think they may be the same but the Chanel is almost certainly more sparkly and seems to be more multifaceted too.

Chanel Fall 2011 Le Vernis Nail Colour - PÉRIDOT!

This is the much talked about shade from the upcoming fall 2011 collection from Chanel, and I can totally see why it has been talked about so much, it is exquisite! The multichromatic hue is divine, with shades of green, gold and even bronze and turquoise appearing, depending on the lighting and surrounding areas.

It’s a thin-ish polish but still applies like a dream, and was a (rather surprisingly) solid 2 coater! It also dries super quickly, and yet I still managed to knock it – go me!

The overall finish is stunning; it actually looks like I’ve had my nails minxed as it’s so metallic and shiny. I can’t think of any dupes for this, at all – maybe you could franken something together but honestly, I still think it would be incredibly difficult to get a perfect dupe, even doing that.

Close up, the finish of the polish looks like a foiled effect which means it can look like there’s brush strokes showing, but there aren’t – and at any normal distance away it just looks fabulously multichromatic metallic – I don’t even know if that description makes sense, but that’s what it looks like!

Plenty of photos in different lights, as per usual – and especially because of the nature of the polish, hope you like!

Will you be buying this on the 19th? I’ll definitely be trying to get a backup of it - I love it!

NOTD Chanel Morning Rose (557) Nail Polish - Summer 2011 'Les Fleurs D'été' Collection!

This is a polish that I almost never had, since it is part of their Les Fleurs D'Ă©tĂ© De Chanel, (limited edition) summer 2011 collection, and Limited Edition Chanel polishes almost always sell out. I think it was released around the time I was going on holiday and so I completely forgot to go and buy it in store, and when I tried to buy it at the airport, they said they still didn’t have it in stock yet. Anyway, I digress, the main thing is I managed to get my hands on it; although I’m not sure if you can still pick it up anywhere – maybe if you’re lucky?!
The colour is a pretty rose pink, kind of dusky and muted and all very lovely with gorgeous gold glass flecks running through it – although I’d say that these were more apparent in the bottle than they are on the nail, they’re not completely invisible on the nail, though.

It is a fairly sheer polish but it applied brilliantly, dried quickly between coats and I managed to get a decent result after 3 coats, although I did an extra one just because the camera can always seem to find fault with things, even when to the naked eye, it looks fine.

I don’t know if it’s my camera, my use of the camera or the colour of the polish but I did find this fairly hard to photograph accurately. I think I got there in the end, though, so I’m posting many pictures taken in different lights – just in case!

So far the polish has worn very well, I’m on day 4 and it’s all still looking rather good – can’t fault that! In fact I'm almost wishing it would chip as I have a lot of nail polish still to swatch and I'm very reluctant to remove the polish whilst it's still looking so damn good!

My advice if you can find this polish is to grab it as it’s a polish that is definitely worth owning.

MAC & Chanel Mini Haul!

I had a little spend at weekend, I say a little spend but it was still almost £50 (but don't tell Mr Beauty Scoop) on 3 items. Still the 3 items are pretty worth it, in my opinion anyway!
I treated myself to Chanel's Miami Peach (203) Le Vernis nail polish which I will swatch very soon. I had this in my shopping cart at Boots.com but I spent so long dithering over what else to buy that it went out of stock. Panic ensued and I took to Twitter, hoping somebody might know where I could find it but to no avail! Luckily I was able to pick it up in store at Debenhams in Milton Keynes (where I was, visiting the almost in-laws)! It's such a beautiful colour in the bottle and I have seen some lovely swatches, so hopefully it will look just as good on my nails!

I then stopped by the MAC counter as I really wanted to have a proper look at the new collections, Fashion Flower and Semi Precious (eyes in particular)! I could have spent a fortune, but unfortunately because I had Mr Beauty Scoop with me, there was no way to hide what I was buying, so I plumped for Golden Gaze, a very shimmery blackened gold hue that I've been lusting after ever since I saw it on Temptalia.com! I will have to buy the other shades that I want, online - ha!
I also managed to justify buying Prep+Prime Line Filler Base whilst there as I said it could be good for disguising the dent in my forehead that I acquired on a night out at Christmas (last year) when I fell over coming out of the hotel and landed on my head (literally, my head was the first thing to hit the floor), leaving a huge dent where it hit. At the time I didn't think I would be left with a permanent reminder, but as time has gone on this appears to be the case. Anyway, this reason seemed to sit well with Mr Beauty Scoop and so it was purchased - result! Now if I could just think of similar reasons for me to be able to openly buy ALL the items I want, that would be great!

I'll be swatching, reviewing and posting about each item individually so please do come back to see more!!
