Models Own Diamond Luxe Nail Polish Collection!

L-R: Princess Pink, Trillion Taupe, Heart Red, Pear Purple, Marquise Maroon, Carat Coral, Asscher Blue, Radiant Pink, Emerald Green, Oval Plum.
I have literally *just* received this information in my inbox, and I couldn't wait to hop-foot it over to you to tell you all about it. My magpie senses are going mad already for this fantastic, sparkling collection from Models Own, due to be released on 19th September 2014.

Not only do these polishes look totally blingtastic, but they form part of Models Own's first ever 'luxe' collection - Diamond Luxe, and who doesn't like diamonds, right?!

This ten-strong shade of polishes all contain real, actual, bonafide, genuine diamond dust. Now I don't know about you, but that's definitely a type of dust that I can get down with! The diamond dust is said to give a 'completely unique, multi-dimensional super-sparkly finish'... well that's me sold already. ;-)

But wait, there's more! Apparently this level of sparkle and bling doesn't come at the cost of having to put up with rough nails that grab onto on any old piece of fluff, like a child clinging to their favourite comfort blanket.

Now I don't know about you, but even with layers of top coat, glittery sparkly nails (other than gel based) never, ever go smooth for me... which ends up giving your beautiful sparkly manicure a more 'dipped in fluff that just happened to contain some glitter' look about it.

Another bonus is that they say these are both quick drying, AND long lasting - 2 of my favourite things to put together when considering the chore of applying nail polish, because let's face it, it looks great, but does anybody actually enjoy applying nail polish? Especially if you're a clumsy oaf like me, that ruins it within minutes. Seconds even, sometimes!

Each polish will retail at £4.99, which is a total bargain in my opinion, and will be available from www.modelsownit.com from 19th September, UK Models Own Bottleshops from the 20th September and Superdrug stores nationwide on 24th September 2014.

Holy yes!! I need them all in my life... right now. Are you loving or leaving this collection and are any colours screaming out 'own me' to you straight away?

P.S, I'll post again when I have some in my hands to show you!

There’s good news for all you lovers of sparkly nail polish who are heading to the Clothes Show Live this year (7th-11th December, Birmingham NEC), as Models Own have created this exclusive polish, aptly named 'Show Stopper' that will only be available to buy from their stand (PK116) at the show, for £5.

Are you going to the show, and if so, will you be purchasing this lovely polish?

Models Own & Hed Kandi Nail Polish Collection!

L-R Beach Party, Balearic Cool, Disco Heaven, Ibiza Mix, Hedonist
Hed Kandi are an iconic clubbing brand, and I've had many amazing nights at Hed Kandi events, especially those in Ibiza in the summers that I worked out there - good times. This year is their 10th year on the party island of Ibiza (I can't believe time has flown so quickly, it doesn't seem like 5 minutes ago that I was partying every night out there) and to celebrate, they've teamed up with Models Own to create a fabulous looking collection inspired by Ibiza, the ultimate party location.

Beach Party - a sunny, bright and intoxicating polish inspired by the world famous sunsets on the White Isle;
Balearic Cool, a crystal aquamarine blue inspired by the waters of Formentera;
Disco Heaven, a glittery, gold disco bomb;
Ibiza Mix, a dense multi-coloured day-night sparkle;
Hedonist, a no inhibition hot neon coral.

I don't know about you, but Disco Heaven, Ibiza Mix and Hedonist are all calling out to me now I've seen the promo image. Talking of images, I absolutely LOVE Hed Kandi imagery, it's so summery and really eye catching, don't you think?

Anyway, these are available from Boots stores, nationwide for just a fiver each. Whaddya think?

Models Own - Beetlejuice Polish Collection!

It's got to be said, I am LOVING the look of this upcoming collection from Models Own, especially the centre 3. Actually, they remind me very slightly of the Ozotic Pro Multi-Chromatic Polishes that I have been majorly lusting over for a long time now (shown below)!

Picture courtesy of Vampy Varnish (who also shows swatches of the polish via the link)!

These should be available in November, and whilst I'm not one for wishing my life away, I really want it to hurry up as I don't think I can wait that long, ha! What do you think?

Updated: Models Own 'Car Key Collection' - The Verdict!

You may remember me writing about the Models Own ‘Car Key Collection’ a short while back! Well I have been testing out the polishes and am back to tell you my thoughts on them. Firstly let me tell you about the polish rather than the colour, as if a polish doesn’t last or apply well then it doesn’t matter what colour it is.

Application was very easy, the polish went on much smoother than I thought it would, because of the bargain price of just £5 each (less if you buy more on the Models Own website). The coverage was also better than I thought it would be for the price, I did do 2 coats but I think I could have got away with just one coat if I had been in a rush.

Drying time was ok; it was touch-dry in a relatively short time – although with my 2 coats it did take quite a while to be completely hardened. This meant I did get a couple of dents accidently (story of my life) in it, but that’s no reason to not buy the polish though as I find this to be the same with many polishes at all price levels.

I applied using Models Own 3 in one base coat, top coat and gloss underneath, and then another layer over the top of the polish. The result was glossy and smooth, and more to the point it did not look like cheap polish.

I am SO impressed with how this has lasted, I had thought it would chip after only a couple of days but the first chip only appeared on day 8 (evening) of wearing it.

I did a minor rescue job with one coat of polish over the bit that had chipped and that seemed to hide the chip to an acceptable degree as a quick fix, but I think another coat would have been a lot better and I think you’d barely have known it had chipped. Still, it’s not a bad result for a very affordable polish in my opinion.

The colours stay true to how they look in the bottle, apart from going a little bit darker once dried on the nail but not dramatically so. Shown below both with and without flash - sorry if they seem a bit cut off at the bottom, they seem to be going a bit wonky when uploading - for reasons unknown to myself - you still get the idea though!

Without Flash!

With Flash!

With comparison to the Chanel Khaki range, I wish I could tell you how it compared in my own experience, but unfortunately I haven’t been able to find anywhere with the Khaki Collection in stock to purchase and compare. I can however point you in the direction of the fantastic blog from British Beauty Blogger (above is a little screen shot of her site, added with her permission of course) where you can see for yourself that there is a difference between the colours when compared next to each other, but don’t let that put you off buying any of these, as these polishes are lovely colours in their own right as you can see above.

I am still on the hunt for both Chanel Khaki Collection and other potential dupes so if there are any updates, I’ll be sure to post it up. If you have any potential dupes that you’d like investigating before you spend your hard earned dosh on them, please let me know and I’ll do my best to find out and swatch for you.

Models Own 'The Car Key Collection' - Chanel Khaki Dupe?

Models Own have brought out yet more affordable alternatives to coveted high-end products. This time it’s their ‘Car Key Collection’ which is a cheeky nod to the collection that they are emulating, Chanel’s exceptionally popular ‘Khaki Collection’ – geddit?

The collection consists of 3 shades - Grace Green, a mossy pastel green; Becca’s Brown, a dusky beige hue and Purple Ash, a vintage dusky rose (potential dupes of Chanel Khaki Vert, Khaki Brun, Khaki Rose respectively).

I love that Models Own acknowledge that not everybody who wants to keep up with the latest colour trends is able to afford to do so with all the high-end products, so I am really looking forward to seeing these once they arrive here.

They’re available to buy in Boots stores from October at just £5 each.
