Deborah Lippmann 'Fall 2011' Preview!

Fall 2011 brings 4 fabulous new Deborah Lippmann polish hues, and predictable as ever I can pick more than one that I’d like to own!

Billionaire: moody hunter green (creme)
Brick House: shimmering rust (shimmer)
Single Ladies: a flirtatious red (creme)

Stormy Weather: An edgy granite (crème) which has been made in collaboration with fashion designer Narciso Rodriguez.

Billionaire, Brick House and Stormy Weather are all calling to me so hopefully we’ll get them over here too, I’ll keep you posted as I find things out!

Also due out is a Nordstrom Anniversary Set, which is full of glitter... and let’s face it, Deborah Lippmann does glitter so very well!

My favourite from the looks of the Black glitter (I think it may be ‘Forget You’ using my powers of deduction) but I do love a spangley nail so would buy this set in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, I’m not entirely sure we’re going to be able to get it here in the UK but we may possibly be able to get the polish separately (I’m sure Happy Birthday at least is available here, individually)!

Deborah Lippmann - 'Superstar' Polish!

I’ve been spending again at House of Fraser, I just can’t help myself whenever I’m out shopping – even if I’m not out shopping specifically for makeup (this trip was for holiday items)! Anyway I bought this beautiful Deborah Lippmann nail polish, ‘Superstar’ just because they still didn’t have ‘Today Was a Fairytale’ in stock... although somebody with more willpower than myself may have just walked away empty handed!

The polish is a gorgeous bronze-y, coppery brown-y colour; and whilst it’s not a particularly summer colour, it is still a beautiful one that will get a lot of use during the autumn and winter months!

I love that the glitter is not just suspended in clear polish; this means it needed less coats to get a decent finish. The photos show 2 coats, although they don’t do the polish any justice at all... the finish of this nail polish is absolutely stunning. I actually need to hide this polish once I’ve posted this as my mum has been eyeing it up ever since I showed it to her – she’s such a magpie (like me) when it comes to the shiny!

The 2 coats with no top or bottom coat (as I wanted to see how it lasted with no extra products) lasted almost 3 days with no chips which is quite good for a glitter polish, especially without the extra grip and protection of a base and top coat!

It’s not a cheap polish, coming in at about £14 (which is a bit annoying since Americans pay about the same, but in dollars – which is a lot cheaper) but I do think it’s worth it – especially if you feel like really treating yourself!

Deborah Lippmann 'Boom Boom Pow' Nail Polish - Swatches!

This beautiful Deborah Lippmann polish first appeared on my radar probably around Christmas (2010) on the Scrangie website, and I have lusted after it ever since. I finally got my hands on it yesterday when my friend picked it up for me (as my local House of Fraser store never seemed to have it in stock) and it’s well worth the £18 price tag (in my opinion) as it’s every bit as stunning as I hoped it would be... plus it says it contains real 24 carat gold, how extravagant!

The great thing about this is that you can layer it up and wear it alone (it took about 4 coats to look fairly ‘done’ and give the full sparkle effect) or you can use it over the top of other polishes to add a bit of sparkle to them too.

Here I have used it over the upcoming OPI polish ‘I Eat Mainly Lobster’ and it looks gorgeous, it has changed the base colour ever so slightly (it's a bit lighter & leans towards a gold-y coral) and it looks a little bit like a flakey polish in some areas (the smaller particles) which is just as lovely. 

The photo’s (all of them) don’t do it justice at all (I think because the camera picks up the individual particles too much, maybe), so I’ve done very short videos to show you a little bit more – I still don’t think they show it to be as beautiful as it is in ‘real life’ but you get the idea.

I can’t wait to wear this over a black or maybe a bronze-y brown in the autumn and winter months!!

Anne Hathaway's 2011 Oscars Deborah Lippmann Manicure!

So you’re hosting the Oscars and obviously have multiple fabulous wardrobe changes lined up, each outfit presenting a completely different, but ultimately glamorous look – so what nail polish do you go for so that your nails match each dress (and a tux) perfectly (well you are going to be watched, and scrutinised by millions of people)?

The answer, at least to the Oscars hostess Anne Hathaway is Deborah Lippmann’s new shade, Naked; a clean beige hue to complement her porcelain skin tone, AND her many dresses. A perfect choice, I feel. Hathaway rocked this manicure, done by Lippmann herself throughout her many wardrobe changes and from the looks of it, even to the after parties too (last photo).
