What Questions Would YOU Ask The Pixiwoo Sisters?

I recently posted about Sam and Nic Chapman's upcoming Real Techniques UK tour that's due to start, and finish next week and have since been given the opportunity to interview the girls ahead of the Manchester leg of their tour. So, I thought I'd find out if you guys had any burning questions that you'd like me to ask them - especially if you can't make it to any of the locations, or there's not one close enough to you.

If you do have a question that you'd like me to try and have answered for you then please leave it in the comments box below and I'll get through as many of them as I can, in the time that I get. x

FashionistA Eyeshadow - Shade 4, Gold Rush!

The packaging does mark fairly easily, but it's of no detriment to the product.

Another FashionistA eyeshadow today, this time it's Shade 4, Gold Rush, a gorgeous golden shade with just a hint of bronze in there too. The finish to this eyeshadow in the pan is different to the ones I've already shown you, in that it has more of a marbled finish, with different shades running through it - and quite honestly, it's partly why I chose to buy it, as I was very interested to see how this would affect the colour.

As you can see below, it's a gorgeous colour and in my opinion you can see both the bronze-y and gold shades coming through in the swatches, and indeed on the eyes.
As usual, with any colour that appears to have different dimensions to it, I have shot the swatch in different lights and without flash too (bottom photograph), just to show how the light affects the hue.
Application is great with little to no fall out, and the pigmentation is good too, although you can build this colour a little more than some of the others in the range, which is great if you're just looking for a light wash of colour over your lids.
Daylight, no flash.
These FashionistA shadows all retail at around the £4 mark and there appears to be offers on the range quite often, meaning that you can often purchase a number of shadows for a lesser cost, or you can buy the shadows and get a free palette etc. I bought mine when there was a 5 for the price of 3 offer on but I know there have been different offers available since the release of the range.

In all fairness though, they're not expensive shadows without an offer, and the quality for the price paid is exceptional. :-)

FashionistA Eyeshadow - Shade 39, Bronze!

Another beautiful eyeshadow from the FashionistA range here today, this time is's a gorgeous coppery shade (with the shade name of Bronze?!). Just look...

The pigmentation in this one is good, but I did the same amount of swipage (ha) as I did with my FashionistA Brunette Bombshell shadow and it does appear to be a little less pigmented, but not to a degree where I'd advise against buying, because as you can see, it still shows up brilliantly on the skin.
Daylight, no flash.

Application is good, the shadow is easily blended and there was less fall out when using this shade than there was with Brunette Bombshell (unless I missed it as it is lighter), yet it still maintains a shimmery finish that I absolutely adore, and even without flash, it shimmers. Lovely.

FashionistA Eyeshadow - Shade 24, Brunette Bombshell!

I recently purchased a bunch of FashionistA eyeshadows after becoming intrigued by the brand and their magnetic nail polishes (will post about these soon)... I say a bunch, but iwas actually about 26(!) of them, which shows just how extensive their range is, as this wasn't even the whole collection!!

I'll be reviewing/swatching them individually as it's easier for me that way, especially where the photographs are concerned as some of the shades I have chosen are *fairly* similar and there's a possibility they would get muddled up if I was to photograph them in large quantities.

Brunette Bombshell is a rich, chocolaty brown that has a metallic sheen to it that looks ever so slightly different whenever a different light catches it. I absolutely love the colour, it's neutral without being boring and I am a complete sucker for glitz, shimmer and all things that shine.

The shadow has quite a soft, almost buttery texture to it and it blends beautifully... although there is a little fallout when applying it (you can see it a little on the swatches), nothing too major though and certainly not enough make it unusable.

MUA Launch Standalone Online Store!

Popular purse friendly brand, MUA's standalone store/website has now gone live, meaning that if you previously found it difficult to get hold of MUA products from your local Superdrug, you now have a treasure trove of MUA products to browse through and purchase.

I think this is great as not all Superdrug stores sell MUA products, and those that do, don't always have the full range in stock. Plus it also means that your MUA goodies will arrive untouched and unopened so that you can be safe in the knowledge that they've not been fiddled with by (potentially) dirty hands!

Today they're offering their Immaculate Collection palette for FREE when you spend £8 in one transaction in the store (subject to availability - ends 20th December 2011) - the Immaculate Collection palette is worth £8 in itself so this is a brilliant deal.

They also have the raved about (and constantly sold out in stores) 'Heaven & Earth' palette in stock, for now at least!

A Few Beauty Deals For Today!

We all love a bargain; it gives us the buzz of buying new things but without so much of the guilt associated with actually laying out the dosh! This post has some of the best beauty bargains I’ve found on the net recently that I think you’d be interested in.

Truth be told, I can never resist a bargain which can get to be quite an expensive trait to have, even at bargain prices, so I must admit that I do still feel twinges of guilt if I’m spending instead of saving for my wedding – they don’t last too long though! ;-)

On Wahanda for £22 you can get an Exclusive 3-piece Makeup Hero Collection from New CID Cosmetics plus Free Delivery (saving you 62%). The set contains the i-smoulder pencil and shadow to create fabulous smoky eyes, a limited edition baked bronzer and highlighter duo for beautiful glowy skin, plus the i-gloss light up lipgloss for perfectly pouty glam lips!

This is a National deal so you can buy it wherever you are in the country but stocks are limited so could sell out at any time! A big bonus with this deal is that you can also get a £5 discount voucher to use on this deal if you sign up to the Wahanda newsletter (if you’re not already subscribed) so that would take this already fabulous deal down to £17!!
Groupon Manchester have a great microdermabrasion deal (FOUR microdermabrasion sessions for £39.95 instead of £150 – plus £50 off any other treatment there, to be precise) that I am definitely looking into for myself; I need to look into it because I have psoriasis that I don’t want to make worse, but if they don’t advise against me having it done then I will purchasing this without any hesitation.

Microdermabrasion is basically a form of exfoliation that sloughs away dead skin but also uses an adjustable suction to help to remove the outer layers of skin. With microdermabrasion you could see a reduction of fine lines, wrinkles and shallow acne scarring; it could also help to decrease the appearance of superficial hyperpigmentation.
On the Groupon London Specials page there’s an interesting offer for semi permanent makeup (eyebrows, or eyeliner) at COSMEDOCTOR for £149 instead of £450. I say interesting because COSMEDOCTOR is actually located inside Superdrug on Kensington High Street. I only really found out about this new venture in Superdrug yesterday on Twitter so it seems very coincidental to see this on Groupon today.

COSMEDOCTOR also offer other non surgical treatments such as botox, fillers, laser hair removal, and chemical peels etc within their Superdrug location and there’s also a fish spa in there too (although I’m going off on a tangent here so more about all that in another post).  I quite fancy having a bit of semi permanent makeup – maybe on my lips or brows, have any of you had it done?
On the Birmingham Groupon page you can get a voucher for £180 worth of facial injection treatments that will cost you just £59! Now this will cover things like botox and fillers I’d expect so on face value (as I’ve never been to the clinic in question) this seems like a really, really good deal. The offer covers 1 area but you can purchase more areas for £60 each – so only £1 more than the deal price, which is rather good. I would quite like to try botox to be honest, I wouldn’t want the full on no movement effect but just enough to prevent any wrinkle damage occurring – as they do say that prevention is better than cure!
My final deal for today is on Superdrug, 3 Accessorize nail polishes in a set for £1.99. There are 2 sets available but they can’t guarantee which set you will be sent. I’ve heard good things about Accessorize polish (and the range in general) so this seems like a very good deal to me (as there’s no point in spending the money, however cheap on products that are no good)!

Superdrug MUA Eye Shadow - 3 Shades Swatched!

I only recently became aware of the MUA range in Superdrug stores, it’s just not something that came onto my radar for some reason; however I recently bought a polish from there and was actually surprised as I quite liked it and for the £1 price tag I was quite impressed with the product.

I’ve now been sent 3 more MUA products to try out, eye shadows to be precise and again I’m finding them to be really rather nice. The pigmentation is much better than I had anticipated, which I was surprised at as I thought cheaper eye shadow would mean much less pigmentation, meaning you’d need a lot more product on to get a decent colour.

Staying power is ok, it’s not going to withstand a hurricane but I think with a bit of primer that it would be perfectly fine for your normal evening out. Blendability is also great from my experience; I didn’t really have any issues with the application of the shadows other than a little fall down.

The shades I have been sent are: 13 (Pearl), 15 (Pearl) and 9 (Also Pearl) and I have swatched them in that order in the photo's. I like all 3 of the colours, although I’d say that 9 was my favourite as it’s so striking – I defy anybody to not like it even just a little bit.

I have swatched both using my finger shown as the bottom large stripe in the photo's, and also by using an inexpensive eye shadow brush (as I thought that it would be best to judge the application on the products own merit, rather than that of the brush) and you can see this at the top of the stripe for each colour.

This range is great for those who don't have loads of spare money to spend on new makeup, but who would still like to update their look/makeup bag a little as every item is just £1; you can even get the products on 3 for 2 offers sometimes which brings down the price even more (not that it really needs it).

I do think some of the products will be hit and miss (which could be said for many brands of differing price ranges in all fairness), but it's worth researching blogs, testing the products (if you can) in store and choosing the best products for you based on this... and I guess even if you get a dud, £1 isn't a huge amount to lose.

See the range!

Superdrug MUA Nail Polish 'Shade 1' - Quick Review & Swatches

This is a quick review and swatch of Superdrug's MUA nail polish in 'shade 1' as I wanted to get a post up today before things got to hectic so apologies for the rushed nature of this.

The polish is actually a really lovely colour; it’s what grabbed my attention as I walked past the display. I’d never used this brand before so didn’t know how well it performed, but for just £1 (6.2ml) I didn’t have much to lose.

The bottle ^ reminds me of a mini Chanel bottle, which is quite cute!

On the nail the polish is very dark blue, almost black and glossier than I had expected. You can’t really see the sparkly flecks unless you have a direct light on it though, none the less, I do like it.

The polish itself took 3 good coats to look opaque and fairly streak free. It also doesn’t really last that long, I think it was about 2 and a bit days before chipping (without any base/top coat as I wanted to test it without any help from other products) – which is kind of what I was expecting for the price, maybe a little bit better; however it would be fine for a night out as it dries relatively quickly and will no doubt last the evening without chipping.

I’ve also put glitter polish over the top of it on a couple of nails, which looks even better... and if you want a picture of that adding please do comment to let me know.
