Victoria Beckham Recommends... Roasted Kale!

Christmas has long since passed and here I find myself yet again, trying to get back on the healthy eating wagon. So, with that in mind, I've been looking for tasty alternatives to fatty food. I came across Victoria's Tweet recently, declaring her addiction to kale.
I thought it sounded alright, I imagined it would taste a bit like crispy seaweed that you get from chinese restaurants and potentially replace any craving for salty snacks like crisps. So, I came back from shopping with a bag of curly kale, ready and hopeful about this new discovery and tipped half the bag on a baking sheet, sprinkled with some Maldon sea salt and popped it in the oven.

Now let me tell you, if you're planning on trying this - you need to watch it carefully, as it can burn very quickly - you can see in the first photo that some of ours has slightly burnt bits on. I think we cooked ours for about 10 or 15 minutes (I know, I should really have timed it) and I think really, it could have done with ever so slightly less in our oven, with it being fan assisted.

The end result is errrm, interesting. The kale does go very crispy, but it is also very delicate too so a light hand is needed when picking it up, as it does have the tendancy to collapse in your fingers and go everywhere. My initial taste of the finished product did kind of remind me of seaweed, but then I got an aftertaste... not a very nice one. It reminded me of the smell of cigarettes, mixed with cabbage - I don't know if this is because it was on for slightly too long or not, but as a non-smoker, it made me feel ill. I couldn't finish it, and I'm too scared to try again - ha, wimp I am.

So, a fairly unsuccessful mission, but at least I tried. Have any of you tried this before? Can you report back to me if it is normal to have this weird aftertaste, or was I just unlucky?

Lancome Teint Miracle!

Victoria Beckham calls it a ‘must have’ and I totally agree; Lancôme’s Teint Miracle foundation is quite possibly one of the best foundations I’ve ever used. It’s a bold statement, but one that I am more than willing to stand by.
I'm wearing it here, just before my holiday!

The fact that when I first wore it, Mr Beauty Scoop said that my skin looked “like your skin but loads better” and that “it looks glowing” says it all as he has barely any interest in these things and usually just mumbles things along the lines of ‘yerrr, it’s ok’ whenever I ask what he thinks of my makeup! I have to agree with him though, this product lights up my complexion and gives it a beautiful luminosity that no other foundation ever has.
Can you see the light reflecting particles?

I’d say this foundation is of medium coverage which is more than ample for me and it covers without being heavy. You can see the coverage a little between the following 2 photographs where my freckle on my hand disappears – see it?
Another great thing about this product is that you don’t need to use a great deal of product to cover the whole face, and of course it is totally buildable if you do need a bit more coverage in some areas. I can’t find any fault with this product, unless you consider the £26 price tag as being too expensive... but I’ve always said that I don’t mind paying more for products that work well/do what they say they will so I have no issue paying this price for this foundation!

In fact it was the foundation that I used most on my holiday, even though I took a number of others; although because of the shade difference, I had to use bronzer with it to correct my skin tone; which brings me to something you have probably noticed, that being that in my photographs I am tanned from my holiday and my foundation is my normal ‘no tan’ shade (Shade 02), so there is a noticeable colour difference, see below – whoops, sorry about that!
Please also excuse my dry looking hands, this is due to swimming pool abuse on my holidays  - well there were water slides there, it would have been rude not to!

Victoria Beckham Pregnancy Product Recommendation!

Her latest recommendation comes in the form Elemis, Japanese Camelia Oil; an oil that has been used for many centuries for the care of skin, hair, nails and scalp. It's said to be great for stretch marks so I can definitely see why she'd be using it during her pregnancy, and if it's got the VB stamp of approval then I’d imagine it to be a very good product indeed.
It's widely available in the UK but I've found 2 great deals that are currently on. The first is at Debenhams who are running their regular beauty discount of 10%  at the moment, so you'd get a bottle of it for just £24.84. If you'd rather spend a little more and get 2 bottles of it then QVC is your best bet as they're currently selling them for £44.22 (postage included) - but they are on waitlist only... not such a problem id you don't mind waiting a little longer.

Victoria Beckham Recommends... Stila Foundation!

So Victoria Beckham posted another recommended foundation on Twitter via an image almost 2 weeks ago here, I held back in posting it straight away as I’d done a few of her recommendations in a fairly short space of time, so thought I’d post a few different things before posting this one.

This time it’s a Stila foundation, ‘Stila One Step Makeup Foundation’ to be exact. This foundation promises to combine the benefits of a primer, foundation, concealer and powder into one easy to use product! I’d be interested to see how well it worked on all 4 levels, but it certainly looks promising.

Victoria Beckhams 'Must Have Lip Glosses'

According to Victoria Beckham on Twitter.com 1 hour ago, these 2 lip glosses are apparently must haves in your makeup bags.

They are Burberry Lip Glow glosses No. 9 and No. 10 and below are sample images taken from the Burberry website to show you what they look like, but first the blurb from the Harrods website:

"Plump, moisturise and add a hint of fresh colour with Burberry Lip Glow. This natural lip gloss has a ceramide complex formula that fills fine lines from within, leaving lips supple, and glowing with natural highlights.
  • Natural lip gloss
  • Creamy, adherent texture
  • Light oils and spherical powders give fluidity and comfort
  • Reflects light to create illusion of plumper, fuller lips
  • Ceramide complex recreates the intercellular cement
  • Hydrating formula keeps lips replenished
  • Fine lines are filled from within
  • Foam tip applicator
  • 6ml"

No. 9 (Nude Beige)

No. 10 (Nutmeg)

I think I might have to get my paws on these as they look lurrrvley from the pictures above, and if they're good enough for VB then they're good enough for little old me haha. If you want to purchase one for yourself they retail at £18 each (haven't found anywhere cheaper as they appear to be sold exclusively at Harrods and on the official Burberry website), and here are the all important links.
