Avon Announce Alesha Dixon As Their New Beauty & Empowerment Ambassador For 2012!

Alesha Dixon has been announced as the new Beauty & Empowerment Ambassador for cosmetics company, Avon. Her newly created role will see her appearing in Avon catalogues from February 2012, launching a new make-up line and also supporting Avon's domestic violence initiatives.

I think this is such a good pairing, Alesha is such a strong, yet likeable character and will be a great voice for Avon in their plight to raise money for domestic violence charities such as Refuge, Women's Aid and UN WOMEN that help victims of domestic violence at a time when they need it the most. It's such a great cause and I'm so glad that they're making it a high profile, and high priority campaign.

Alesha comments: “I’m so incredibly proud to partner with Avon, a company that empowers women and brings beauty to their lives. Being the face of Avon make-up means I’ve discovered so many amazing beauty treats that I can’t wait to share. But more importantly Avon has a real heart and a true passion for helping to improve the lives of women, so I hope to make a difference through generating awareness for a cause that is so close to me.“

Look out for her in your February campaign brochures, where Alesha will be launching Avon's latest foundation range, 'Ideal Flawless' which is said to have the widest selection of shades available in any of Avon's foundation ranges, and of which Alesha says "With Avon’s Ideal Flawless, I’ve discovered a foundation that gives immaculate coverage and celebrates my natural complexion.”

Alesha has taken over the @AVON_UK Twitter account today, right now, until 2:45pm so if you have any questions or anything you'd like to say, then get on it right now!

The TSV price is set to be under £40 (exact price announced on air) with an over 50% saving guaranteed."

How does that sound m'dears? I am thinking Christmas presents for my mum, sister and my aunty plus one for myself maybe (naturally) as the set looks like a lovely gift to give and will obviously look like you've spent much, much more than you have!

Celeb Sunday (on a Monday) - Gwen Stefani!

I loved No Doubt back in the day, it's weird to think that it was 16 years ago that 'Just a Girl' and 15 years since 'Don't Speak were released. Both songs remind me of being at high school and, rather embarrassingly the latter song also of being played on repeat when I broke up with a boyfriend and thought it was the end of the world (I might also have cried to it at the time). I remember it like it was yesterday, which is madness for me, as most of the time, I can't remember what I did a week ago!

Gwen has really stood the test of time, both in going from the band into a solo artist and also in how amazing she looks for a woman of 42. She has an incredible knack of knowing what works for her, in every way. Her hair and make-up always look amazing, I love her with neutral make-up just as much as I do when she's got her trademark red lips and black liner. Her skin looks fantastic too - I'd love to know how she keeps it looking so youthful.

What do you think, do you like Gwen and her style? Do any of her songs hold any memories for you?

I know this is Monday, but my schedule in Blogger didn't work and I've not been home to notice this! x

Shu Uemura 'Smoky Layers' False Lashes on Buyapowa!

Shu Uemura are meant to have some of the most amazing lashes available and now is a great chance to get them at a bargain price. I'm pretty sure that these will sell out VERY soon, definitely before the time runs out anyway, and I'm also certain that they will get to the best price of £14 too.

I love the look of these ones too - nice and fluttery! What do you think, will you be buying? x

Illamasqua Launches Liverpool Store!

I look like death warmed up, sorry. How gorgeous is Alex Box though?!

Last week I had the pleasure of attending the Illamasqua Liverpool store launch, and it was amazing. Seriously, it was like my own private heaven (except there were other people there) with so many amazing products in even more amazing colours!

The launch had everything I like in a launch, great people, a great atmosphere and a fabulous cocktail (tequila based) to sip on whilst I browsed the store and generally mingled with people there. I even had the absolute pleasure of spending quite a lot of time with the absolutely awesome (and so very lovely) Alex Box who is everything I hoped she'd be, and more - and also spent some time with Illamasqua's founder and chairman, Julian Kynaston who was also very lovely indeed. You can really see the passion for the brand with these guys, which is so very refreshing to see.

The store is amazing, it looks fantastic (as you'd expect) and is well laid out, the products are easy to view and also play about with, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable to boot. It's easy to get to from Liverpool Lime St train station on foot at the Met Quarter (near MAC) and I really haven't a bad word to say about it, other than I wish it was in Manchester instead/also!

I really wanted to have lashes applied at the event, but the pair that had been put aside for me got pinched unfortunately, so I had lipstick applied instead (see first pic) - and what a fab lipstick it was, I can't remember the name of it, but I NEED to buy it so I will have to find out!
I didn't really get any photographs worth showing as I took my point and shoot, which was bloody awful to use and with awful photographs to show for it, especially now that I am used to my DSLR (and yes, I did keep going to look through the non-existent viewfinder - how very embarrassing) so the photographs included in this post were taken by others at the event (including Pixie Voltaire) - excuse how I look, I almost didn't make it there as I was really quite poorly!

Too Faced Primed & Poreless Primer!

I’m always on the hunt for skin perfecting products, especially primers that claim to help disguise/hide pores as this is one of my (many) main skin complaints; so it’s no surprise that I picked up a tube of this when I saw it in store.

I’ve had my Too Faced ‘Primed & Poreless’ for a little while now (as you can see by the worn away writing on the tube), and I have to say, I do use it quite a lot (you only need a small amount, it lasts for ages) – even though I don’t really think that it makes any difference to the appearance of my pores.

The formulation feels very silky, which is because it’s silicone based (I love the feel of these kinds of products – is that weird?) and it is slightly tinted too – although not greatly, so it is still suitable for most skin tones. It glides on the skin beautifully and really seems to help my make-up apply easier and stay on longer too – which are the reasons that I’ve actually kept on using it!
I notice that it has retinol in the ingredients, something that is proven to be great for your skin and helping imperfections, I can’t see any huge change though so I’m not entirely sure how much is included in there.

I’d recommend this to anybody who isn’t looking to perfect their pores, which frankly is ridiculous when you consider its name, but it does have its plus points – as mentioned. It is £21, so not exactly a bargain product but is worth checking out if you just want your make-up to stay put for longer! :-)
