EOTD with Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara!

I love long, full looking lashes, but I'm totally rubbish with false ones. I either fail to get them on, looking good and then staying put, or, I run out of time to faff around with them for long enough to get them on etc, so a good mascara is always high on my list of beauty must-haves.

A good mascara can make your lashes look amazing, but I've never come across one that has truly made my lashes look like I'm wearing falsies (in a good way), until now.

Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara has very quickly become one of my favourite mascaras, since it pretty much does exactly what it says on the tube, which can be a a rarity in these days of lash inserts and photographic 'enhancement' via Photoshop.

Just look at the pictures, every one of these, apart from the first one below has 2 (light-ish) coats of the mascara and was taken at the end of the day, so you can see how well it lasts too.
One light coat, no lash curling or other make-up!
I am very impressed with this stuff, I had at least 3 people in one day asking me if I was wearing false lashes, something I've rarely encountered before bu found to be reassuring that other people also thought my lashes looked as good as I did.

It's also effortless to use, the wand works brilliantly and seems to do most of the work for you, which is always welcome with me. It's hard to believe that this mascara only costs around £11 as if I'd done a blind test, I'd have easily believed it if I was told it was a £20+ mascara.
My 'extra' eye make-up in the pictures below consists of 3 shades from the Urban Decay Naked palette (the original one): Virgin and Sin in the inner corner and over the lid, and Darkhorse in the socket. It's a very simple look, but one I find myself wearing quite a lot during the day.
Excuse the hair and robe, it was pyjama o'clock when I took this photograph.
You can see the 'stain' left on my lips from my Rouge Volupte lipstick, shade 10, Provocative Pink - another long lasting and impressive product.

False Lash Effect Mascara was a PR sample (views are unchanged by this), the rest of the make-up mentioned/worn in this post was purchased by myself.

EOTD - Featuring My YSL & Chanel Favourites!

I've been totally in love with my Yves Saint Laurent Midnight Garden Palette and Chanel's Illusiuon D'Ombres, especially in Épatant ever since I got them, and think they work really well together, so this is another EOTD using them, but in a slightly different way!

This time I used the gorgeous forest green AND the beautiful purple from the YSL palette with the Chanel Épatant - and I think it worked out quite well, especially as I was in a rush to get ready after being out during the day of the party (my nephews birthday party) and didn't have much time to get ready!

I forgot to curl my lashes, and also I only put a light coat of mascara on (shhhh) but it didn't affect my night and we had a great time all the same - nobody died. ;-)

As per usual, these photographs are end of the night fodder, so they're not the best and neither if my full face below, but you get the idea and next time I'll try to remember to take a photo before I leave the house!

Any tips for me to be more organised? Ha! x

Chanel & Yves Saint Laurent 'Eye of the (Wedding) Night'!

Just a quick post as I'm still struggling with my computer - card reader this time, which means that until I receive the replacement, I'm having to manage with what I've got.

On Saturday night I went to a wedding reception in South Wales and because of the journey, I mostly applied my make-up in the car because I didn't want to apply it in the morning, and I also didn't want to have to arrive and apply - so the car was (surprisingly) my best option!

Anyway, I went for Chanel Illusion D'Ombre in Épatant on the lids and inner corners; and the turquoise-y green from the Yves Saint Laurent Midnight Garden 5 Ombres Lumiéres (swatches coming very soon, just got to put together the last few photographs) in the crease and outer corners!

I'm still not as neat as I'd like to be with my eyeshadow - I don't think it helps that my eyes are a bit different and I don't know how to work with t hat, but I was happy with how it looked in the end. If any of you with better skills than me have any tips, feel free to throw them my way!

The eyeliner I used was my trusty Avon SuperShock Gel Eyeliner in black and I used Bourjois Volume Fast & Perfect Mascara on my lashes!

Sorry for the quality of the pictures, I didn't take my proper camera out with me. Also, I've only shown my eyes as for some reason, on both of the photographs I appeared to be pulling a weird face that was not flattering at all haha! I wouldn't mind, I wasn't even drunk so there are no excuses! :-)

A Recent EOTD (Well Night, Actually)!

This was my EOTN on Saturday evening when I went for a few drinks, at short notice so it was a very quick eye make-up, made very easy by the fact that I used the latest Chanel Illusion D'Ombre's in Illusoire and Épatant to create the look.

I also used Urban Decay's 'Polyester Bride' from my Ammo palette to highlight under the brow, a slick of Avon's gel eyeliner in black on top and bottom lash lines, and Bourjois Volume Fast & Perfect Rotating Mascara on my lashes.

It only took me about 5 minutes, purely because the Chanel gel shadows are so blendable and easy to work with and whilst it wasn't the most technical eye make-up, I thought it worked. This photo was taken when I got home, it didn't occur to me to take one beforehand. What do you think?

Holiday Eye Of The Day - Part 2!

This is another of my holiday eye looks; again, I wanted something quite bright and I think this fit that requirement perfectly. I spent a little more time on this one, compared to the one I posted up yesterday but still tried to keep it as simple as possible. These are the only 2 eye looks I photographed with a view to posting up, so they may be the only 2 EOTD's that I post, depending on if I find any more suitable photographs to edit down!
I used 4 different shadows: Sleek Curious Palette (C2 and D1 in the bottom photo) for the inner and outer colours - both on top and under the eye; then I used MyFace Blingtone in 'Caribbean Queen' (over the inner corner colour) and MyFace Blingtone in 'Bellbottom Blues' in the centre!
I used my Avon Gel Eyeliner again, and I think the mascara was the Bourjois Rotating Mascara as mentioned yesterday!

What do you think?

Holiday Eye Of The Day - Part 1!

This is one of my holiday eye makeup 'looks' - sorry about the rubbish pictures, I'm not used to doing these kinds of things yet (hence the lack of mascara etc too) so bare with me while I try to learn.
Please also excuse the dry skin and blood shot eyes - that'll be the result of me spending most of the day in the pool/on the slides on the first day!
I wanted to use bright colours but didn't want to spend half my holiday fussing over it, so kept it fairly simple. I think it turned out ok, what do you think?

I used my Sleek Safari Palette to create the look (C1, C2 and D2 in the photo, thanks to dolcevanity.com for the photo below) and my Avon Gel Eyeliner in black. I also finished the look (after the photographs were taken) with Bourjois Volume Fast & Perfect Rotating Mascara!

Hope you like it. x
