Swatches: OPI Touring America (I Eat Mainly Lobster, Honk If You Love OPI & Uh-Oh Roll Down The Window), Plus Silver Shatter!

I received a lovely package containing 3 of the OPI Touring America (autumn 2011) shades, and also Silver Shatter from the upcoming Pirates collection (spring/summer 2011). I absolutely adore the shades I have been sent, I’m just not sure if I can wait until autumn to get my hands on about 6 more shades from the collection haha! I decided to swatch them all together as to be quite honest, I just couldn’t wait to get them on my nails!

My absolute favourite from the 3 shades I received has to be ‘I Eat Mainly Lobster’ and I am so pleased I have it as I have no doubt that it’s going to be one of my favourite summer shades this year! The polish is a little bit more on the pink side than my camera has shown it to be, a perfect bright coral shade with tiny speckles of gold shimmer running through it – absolutely gorgeous! It did take 4 coats to get it perfect but it is SO worth it!

 ‘Uh-Oh Roll Down The Window’

This is a murky olive green, a perfect shade for autumn, I feel. This was good to go in about 3 fairly thin coats but could get away with 2 slightly thicker coats! I love this colour but I think it would be even more amazing if they had the same gold shimmer running through – that would be the icing on the cake for me, although I’m more than happy to wear it as it is, anyway!

‘Honk If You Love OPI’

This is a beautiful deep grapey purple – I do love my dark polishes when we get to autumn and winter and this is no exception. It needed a good 3 coats, possibly even 4 depending on how thick you do each coat but again it’s well worth it. I have numerous dark purple shades but this one is different yet again, well worth having even if you do have a collection of deep purples already (in my opinion anyway, although I am a bit of an addict)!

All 3 shades (sorry there's so many, the light catches them differently in each one):

Silver Shatter is from the Pirates Of The Caribbean collection for spring/summer 2011 and will be out in May but I thought I’d include it with these since a) it came with them in the package and b) it looked especially good over I Eat Mainly Lobster once applied! I love this shatter; it’s kind of foil-y and metallic which I think would work well over all kinds of polish colours.

I hope they bring out a gold to match as I think this kind of finish works so, so well with a shatter polish – it certainly makes a change from the matte finish crackle effect polishes!

I found it ever so slightly harder to work with, but got used to it fairly quickly - I worked from my little finger towards my thumb and I think you can see it has crackled better from my middle finger to my thumb in the pictures below?!

What do you think of them, do you likey? x

My Fish Pedicures In Malaysia (From My Visit Last Year)!

Last year I went to a fish spa in Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur to be precise and I had my first ever experience of a Garra Rufa fish pedicure. After about 15 minutes of squealing by the side of the water, scared to death of putting my feet in the water with those little foot nibbling fish I finally took the plunge, literally. The sensation was actually very nice, once I actually let the fish near me – it reminded me of the feeling I had whilst using a TENS machine, kind of a buzzy tingly sensation... and just a tiny bit tickly, even though my feet aren’t particularly ticklish.

^ This picture is of me hovering over the water before I took the plunge... notice the blurriness on it, this is me bottling out of putting my feet in the water for the umpteenth time.
^ Just my heel... I was very tentative!
 ^ All in!

^ Just look at them all!!

Anyway, after I had done it the once, I couldn’t wait to go back and get my feet back in there, and it ended up being one of the highlights of my holiday (in terms of the experience of doing it, and also facing my phobia of being in water with fish – although not completely conquering it as I still won’t be going deep into the sea with a big smile on my face) and my feet were lurrrvely and soft to boot!

Here's a few pictures from Malaysia (from the hundreds I have):

Fish pedicures seem to be more expensive in the UK compared to Malaysia, although that’s to be expected really... however I do keep noticing these deals popping up on Groupon and Wahanda in various parts of the country for fish pedicures at knock down prices, so every time I see one in Manchester I will definitely be taking them up on it.

I am due to visit ‘Appy Feet’ in Manchester soon too, so I’ll be reviewing them in full just as soon as I’ve been.

Have you ever had a fish pedicure? If not, would you?

St Tropez Spray Tan - My First Ever Spray Tan!

After purchasing deals for The Beauty Lounge (at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Manchester Airport) from Wahanda, my sister and I went and had our first ever (St Tropez) spray tans on Friday! I was a bit nervous about baring all, and hoping that I wouldn’t turn orange but I am really, really pleased that I went and also with the results too – I just wish that I was this colour naturally as I don’t think I could maintain it all year round!

My appointment went well, I found the staff friendly and considering I was stood in nothing more than a pair of paper knickers, I felt fairly at ease. I would say that I was a little bit shocked that the door to the spray tan room opened straight onto the gym, which meant that anybody near the door when the therapist was coming in or out of the room could cop an eyeful of my wobbly bits (and more)!!

I think the tan has turned out quite natural and not at all scary, what do you think?

Before (just a picture from a previous post):

After (although the flash makes my skin look a bit lighter than it actually is):

I notice that St Tropez say that their tanning products now contain Aromaguard, a fragrance technology that they say will ‘eliminate the tell-tale self tan aroma by a minimum of 70%’ – now I don’t know how they measure this 70% but I would say that my tan still had quite a strong, distinctive scent to it – more so before I washed the guide colour off; it wasn’t completely off putting but Mr Beauty Scoop definitely didn’t like it.

I would definitely have a spray tan again (depending on how this one lasts but so far, so good), maybe just for special occasions though - or maybe if I see more deals on Wahanda/Groupon to take advantage of!
